Has to be said, I would have gone straight for Razor Blades/Razors, but seeing DM's answer, of course the company's name was "Wilkinson Sword" which I remember well (just not thinking swords). However, looking it up Wilkinson originally made guns!

Though obviously best known for and making their money through "blades". :thumb:

"Wilkinson Sword is a brand for razors and other personal care products sold in Europe, owned by Edgewell Personal Care. The company was founded as a manufacturer of guns made in Shotley Bridge in County Durham, by Henry Nock in London in 1772."

Yes, I was thinking of Wilkinson Sword. Who, incidentally, were also responsible for producing the famous F-S commando knife:

Where (or rather who, without stating the obvious) did the phrase "Gordon Bennett" come from and what does it mean....?

I don't know why, but I always thogught he was an Everton goalkeeper, though I'm sure that's not right! I actually looked this up recently, and although I can't remember the details, he was someone who was known for his outrageous behaviour.

It’s a phrase coined by many, including the wonderful Del Boy in Only Fools and Horses.

""Gordon Bennett!" is an expression of incredulity which alludes to the outrageous behaviour of the American sportsman, publisher and all-round hell-raiser James Gordon Bennett Jr."

Born: 10 May 1841, New York, New York, United States

Not an inhaler as such. For use in an operating Theater - and (the powder being) mixed with air.

cocaine for anesthesia?

Not anesthesia or cocaine - think the wider picture/"area".
