Big Boy wrote: Mon Oct 14, 2024 4:20 pm It isn't his goal scoring ability that I criticise. It is his performance elsewhere. It's a team game, and if not scoring goals, the guy becomes invisible. If they aren't crossing the ball to him, he shouldn't be sat in a sulk somewhere, waiting. He should be helping out his teammates elsewhere. Maybe that is why England struggle so much when a team parks the bus. They go a man down at the same time.
Yet he's criticized for dropping back to find the ball when he's getting no service.

He just can't win! :banghead:

Sorry, I see that Dannie Boy already made that very pertinent comment.

I sincerely hope that doesn't mean that you do now ....

I wouldn't criticise him for that if he actually found it. It is the fact he doesn't find it (when I'm watching) that totally frustrates me. On the few occasions he has found the ball, quite the contrary - if you look through my comments over the years, you will see I have, in fact, praised him (and I'm sure he sleeps better at night having received my praise).

Unless we have a UEFA nations league thread then......

I disagree with England's second goal being marked down as a own goal by their keeper. He knows nothing about it. The credit should go to Bellingham

If JB shoots and it hits the keepers hand then goes in, that's a goal for JB no questions asked. Just because it comes of the post and hits keeper on back then I don't see why that's not a goal for the shooter.

I think for the shooter to claim the goal. it has to be on target, which it clearly wasn't until the keeper put it on target.

Is there an element of sarcasm in that post?
The 2nd half was certainly uplifting.

As I don't do full reviews, my overview is that dropping Kane back let to a better game, unlocking the packed defence to make the breakthrough 'goal'. Once Ireland had to attack they were easy meat (10 men can even win occasionally let's not forget). England surprised me by for once shutting down Ireland players quickly when they received the ball. More of that please.

Good to see new blood very keen and scoring.

Certainly not, I always knew Captain Harry would take us back to the top tier of football :run:

Should've stuck with Carsley

Won 5/6 and blooded 8 new players

Did FA panic after 1 loss to Greece?
