Not really unexpected after previous comments this week.

There's talk now that the Dutch Grand Prix on May 3 will be cancelled as well. We should hear something official in a few days.

I'm afraid this will become a snowball, as the Spanish and Monaco are schedule for May also. I really wouldn't be surprised to see the entire season called off.

I'm gutted about the Hanoi Grand Prix (well actually all cancelled ones). I live in Hanoi and my hotel is right beside the race track. Three teams would have stayed with us and it would have been awesome to meet the lads and be so close to the action....

Cheers,
B.

F1 moves summer break from August to March at April

https://www.bbc.com/sport/formula1/51950673

Formula 1's summer break has been moved forward from August as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.

The new season has been thrown into disarray by the virus and F1 is working on plans to run as long a season as possible once races can be held.

Following unanimous agreement, the 'break' will be held in March and April, with teams choosing a three-week period in that time to close.

It is normally held in August, when teams shut down for two weeks..........

Looks like they'll be taking a slightly longer break......

"The Dutch, Spanish and Monaco Grands Prix have been postponed due to the global spread of the coronavirus. The news follows the cancellation of the season-opening Australian Grand Prix last week, and the postponement of the Chinese, Bahrain and Vietnam Grands Prix.

The Dutch Grand Prix, due to return to the calendar for the first time since 1985, was set to be held at Zandvoort on May 1-3, with the Spanish race following a week later, and the Monaco Grand Prix on May 21-24.

But with the ongoing coronavirus situation all three races have now been put on hold. A statement said: “Formula 1, the FIA and the three promoters have taken these decisions in order to ensure the health and safety of the travelling staff, championship participants and fans, which remains our primary concern.”

All parties said they would study the viability of finding alternative dates to run the races later in the year, and the statement added that Formula 1 and the FIA expect to be able to begin the 2020 season “as soon as it’s safe to do so after May” but will continue to monitor the situation."

This is all so glaringly obvious that it's not worth a thread of its own. In fact, can't we just accept that all sports are (or will shortly be) postponed until further notice?

Well OK, fair enough - just thought I'd post the "breaking news" from F1. As you say, pretty much shafted for 2020 - I certainly won't be able to afford c*ck all outside the absolute necessities as I'm on lock down for travel (whether company or contracting) - my bread and butter. Sport doesn't really come into it anymore.....

Many in worse positions than me though...

Did my post indicate that I'm under stress? What an odd thing to say after all these years of stress-free posting. I thought I was making a valid point, and I certainly wasn't having a go at pharvey. I'm still not stressed, just mildly irritated!
