Sir Harold Redknapp:
"It's a happy thing to have a player like Luka Modric, who has suddenly turned into a £50 million, £40 million player and everyone wants him. We're lucky we've got him and we aren't selling him, that's what the chairman says and that's good enough for me."

He added: "The chairman has made a statement. He can't backtrack on that. He means that - I know he means that. Luka's not going.

"Daniel has made that statement - he can't come out and suddenly sell him. Everyone will go, 'What's the use of listening to what he says? He can't sell him. He's said he's not going to sell him and that's good enough for me.

"Daniel and Joe Lewis own the club. They're not selling Luka - end of story, as far as I'm concerned. It's not easy to keep a player who's not happy but the chairman has said we're not going to sell him so we've got to stand by that now. He can't be saying that and then we sell him."

No pressure then, Mr Levy...
Hmm, beginning to look like a done deal - hope we get a good price!

Commolli signed Modric didn't he?

I'm sure arry will take the credit for the profit though.

Not if he has to pay the tax.

Doesn't look like he will be staying really...

http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sp ... elsea.html

Though Levy says...

"In respect of Modric, we are not prepared to sell, at any price, to Chelsea or any other club.

"We made our stance on this issue abundantly clear in writing to Chelsea. They chose to ignore it and then subsequently made the offer public.

"For the avoidance of any doubt, let me reiterate that we shall not enter into any negotiations with any club regarding Modric.

"We now consider this matter closed."

... there really is not much point keeping a player that has shown his desire for a move. Keeping him against his will isn't going to bring the best out of him.

A big loss for Spurs.

Similar to when we lost Alonso. A huge cog.

A huge loss really. Though we could spend the amount on someone else, maybe a decent striker, he is our little playmaker in the middle of the pitch. Without him a lot of our flair in the middle has gone and Van Der Vaart simply has too many injury problems going on to be consistent in that role.

I think Levy should go against his wage policy on this one and offer him a little more to try and keep him happy. I think the guy's 'only' on around 50-60k a week which would be dwarfed were he to play for anyone else. Joe Cole gets nearly double that I think

In what galaxy are Chelsea a bigger club than Liverpool?

They are a smaller club than Spurs.
Huddersfield Town were once the biggest club in the land.

But in reality, its all about money these days and in that respect, Liverpool are right up there. As are Spurs, but many other previously rated 'top' clubs are fading....

Yes, its very sad, but its now apparent that his ligament injury the other year has really affected him. I remember watching that, he was obvously seriously hurt, but played on and then you could tell his leg wouldn't do what he wanted it to and he went down. Anyone who has sufffered similar (me) could see the signs.

At the time he was released, many thought he was harshly treated by Chelsea, but players are commodities and in hindsight, it seems good business.

I was quite excited when we singed Joe Cole TBH. Apparently he's a 20 a day smoker though and evidently he needs to lay off the pies.

Great commitment for 90k a week.

This personal issue probably didn't help Joe last year:

Good news for Chelsea fans.... an incredible manager in my book - and young too! If he settles down it may be a long love affair.
