Are you guys saying that after getting a re-entry permit and leaving the country, you need to re-report back in HH Immigration within 24 hours ? Never heard of that!?!?

There is a 24 hour reporting law of change of address.

It is my understanding that if you leave the country, you are required to report to your local immigration office within 24 hours of your return. If you stay in another city (like spend a few days in Bangkok), I'm not sure if you are required to report there or if your local office will give you a pass until you actually return home.

Lomu, where are you? Your opinion is needed on this question... :D

Surely this is what you do when you complete the Arrival Form (if travelling by Air)

what about TM 30?

from Imigration Website:

According to section 38 of the 1979 immigration act, "House owners, heads of household, landlords or managers of hotels who accommodate foreign nationals on a temporary basis who stay in the kingdom legally, must notify the local immigration authorities within 24 hours from the time of arrival of the foreign national." If there is no immigration office in the province or locality of the respective house or hotel, the notification is made to the local police station. In Bangkok the notification is made to the Immigration Bureau. The notification of residence of foreign nationals is made by the manager of licensed hotels according to the hotel act, owners of guesthouses, mansions, apartments and rented houses using the form TM. 30.
The notification of residence of foreign nationals within 24 hours can be made in a number of ways to make the notification as convenient as possible:

* In person at the respective office, or
* Through an authorised person at the respective office, or
* By registered mail, or
* Via internet.

Do anyone via internet??? I tried in Cha-Am at the Policestation, but i can not do there. The Policeman did not know anything about TM 30.
So i have to travel to Hua Hin

Lomu wrote on one of the other threads...
This 24 hour reporting came up on the board some time ago. As Nereus says, it's nothing to do with the normal 90 day reporting. The clock on that is reset to day 1 when you complete a TM card on returning to Thailand.
If you're returning from abroad, there used to be a clause on the back of the old TM cards (they were phased out a good few years ago) and it was stated that you your presence here had to reported to your local Imm Office within 24 hours of arrival. That no longer appears on the current TM card, but is quite possibly a law that was never repealed. See here:
http://www.immigration.go.th/nov2004/en ... =alienstay
My reading of this is that it's the hotel/guesthouse/landlord who has to do the reporting, although quite what happens if you own your own home isn't clear.
As was said on the other topic, it's a daft regulation that now seems to have been dropped by HH Imm. I believe they were the only office in Thailand trying to enforce this last year. Don't count on HH having stopped enforcing it though. Maybe someone else can confirm?

This was on another thread written by Jockey:
...He (the nice immigration officer), showed me the booklet (which I was allowed to photo copy). The booklet clearly states (in english), if you go out of the country or PROVINCE (note not just country - PROVINCE) for more than 24 hours, you have to report to immigration at the new province you are in, then report to immigration when you come back. So if you go to (say) Bangkok for the weekend, to stay within the "immigration law", you should report to immigration at Bangkok where you are staying, then when you return, you should report to Hua Hin immigration to report you have returned! Otherwise you are liable to an 800 baht fine....

And this written by Niggle:
OK ABout this 24 hour reporting
I returned yesterday from a visit to Malaysia and having read the recent posts about 24 hour reporting I went to HH immigration to check.
YES they are imposing the 24 hour reporting requirement at immigration in Hua Hin.
Whatever your visa, if you leave the country, irrespectinve of any visa you may have, you MUST report to HH Immigration within 24 HOURS of re-entry otherwise you will be fined for not doing this.
Interestingly, after a quick trip to Bangkok aiirport (details on another post) the Immigration at Suvarnambhumi seemed bemused as to why HH Immigration was doing this but accepted that local immigration offices have the right to do so if they wish

As with most Thai immigration rules this one appears to be as clear as mud and imposed at the whim of the particular immigration office or officer... :?

I've been playing golf badly, but thanks for the support on this forum.
Sarge, WL is correct. Your going to have to do your application for an annual extension on the basis of marriage to a Thai national either here in HH or Prachuap (whichever way it goes). I'm pretty sure BKK will turn you or anyone who isn't registered in BKK away. "Go to your province".
This 24 hour reporting? Well I don't have much to add to the links that have been provided. 90 days is the magical number. If you havn't gone over that consecutiely then there no need to report. Python's got the copy/paste there already.

Mags

Heard that too but I guess the rents are astronomical

Talked to a friend though who said the people who charge the rent there must be crazy as 50+ farangs a day means an increase in business for the SM

Wife goes shopping while you do your paper work

TIT I'm afraid :(

An article in last Sundays Bangkok Post stated that on the Queens Birthday in August a new province will be created based in Hua Hin and also incorporating parts of Cha Am and Pranburi.
Hopefully any trips to Prachuap for me will be avoided. If the local office is open until 20th March I can process one 90 day confirmation of address before then and by September the office will be back in Hua Hin!
