I have travelled in a tank, the one thing that surprised me was a kettle

If you mean just the USA, not any islands that come under their jurisdiction, I would say not many, I would think it would just be from ships at sea. So I would think under 50

You have to look at the numbers in the Alaskan Aleutian Islands. Some were occupied by the Japanese in significant numbers and they had to be extracted, although for the most part I think they left on their own before fighting got very heavy.

There were also occasional casualties on the US east coast with the Coast Guard caused by German saboteurs.
