Re: Coronavirus Precautions - Hua Hin/Thailand
Seems like some kind of registration going on at the local school in Soi 88. Farangs can fill out a form and give passport copy. If no symptoms for Covid 19 they hand out a note which can be shown to police or at the hospital if they get sick with Covid 19. If they do this registration any treatment if they should contract the virus will be free of charge at the hospital. Have anyone heard of this? As far as as I know this was not the mandatory registration for tourists arriving after March 15, but maybe it is the same registration and the accept all which shows up for this? Again anyone know anything?

It could be registration of all farangs staying in guest houses and hotels before they all close down, or?

These will probably be the Farangs who returned to Thailand after 15th March in accordance with last weeks order. There were several locations around the town.

Ok, but one guy I know went there too, and he lives here. Strange the whole thing. He did not arrive after March 14. He is not the smartest guy, so he thought it was for all farangs.Big Boy wrote:These will probably be the Farangs who returned to Thailand after 15th March in accordance with last weeks order. Whether you believe wearing a mask works or not works, it is now manditory in Hua Hin and surrounding areas to wear them in public places.
The beaches are public place's so please wear one when walking or jogging, if not I can see one of the only pleasures left here being closed to the public.

Re: Coronavirus Precautions - Hua Hin/Thailand
The problem is as I and others have said, the emphasis on masks have indoctrinated the Thais to believe that wearing a mask makes you safe, like amulets.
Social distancing (>2 mtrs), regular hand washing/sanitising are the main preventions.
THEN masks to prevent asymptomatic cases from spreading the disease. Until recently, it was believed that cases didn't spread the virus until symptoms showed. That has now been proven false and even asymptomatic cases can spread it. That's the reason for a change of thinking by the CDC and the like.
Other countries are seeing a leveling off and even a downturn where masks were not the be all and end all.
You only have to stand outside any 7/11 and you'll see the majority (now all) Thais wearing masks but hardly anyone uses the sanitiser provided. And social distancing, forget it.
Spain and maybe Italy are already opening markets on a limited scale.

Just come back from 7/11. Very busy and became a challenge for social distancing. It's time they took a lead from Family Mart who only allow a certain number of customers in at any one time. 10 I think.
However, the girl at the door takes your temp and checks you have a mask on. She carries a sanitiser to spray on your hands. Couldn't be simpler. BUT whilst there, every Thai WITHOUT EXCEPTION refused the sanitiser. There's a sanitiser on each check-out which remains unused.
This government needs to grow a couple of brain cells and educate the people here on how to use the guidelines to prevent them from succumbing to this virus. At the moment, the guidelines are WRONG.
It makes me so angry!

Jeez! I can sort of understand why some people in their ignorance might not seek out a sanitiser, but why in God's name would you actively refuse one??
This is the way

GOV’T SAYS PRIVATE HOSPITALS CAN’T CHARGE COVID-19 TREATMENT
The government on Saturday banned private hospitals from charging coronavirus patients for their treatments.
In a post shared by its official Facebook page, the government said the medical expenses of COVID-19 patients will be covered by the state. Private hospitals are told to keep records of the cost they can be reimbursed by related agencies, though regulations governing the reimbursement processes have yet to come into effect.
“Private hospitals are asked to provide treatment to the best of their abilities and not to use expenses as a condition,” the post wrote. “They are not allowed to charge the patients or their families. If they have been charged, they can file a complaint at the Department of Health Service Support or provincial health offices.”

I'd be willing to bet that doesn't extend to the white devils ...

As clear as mud.Although the Comptroller General’s Department said it has approved funding for the state to cover all foreigners’ medical expenses, regardless of their insurance situation, government officials never explained what happened to the money.
Re: Coronavirus Precautions - Hua Hin/Thailand
I thought that I'd read early on that most foreigners would be covered. I'll see if I can find the article, but it was a while ago.

This is the article I was thinking of. Forget the headline/first paragraph. It was the 2nd paragraph that caught my eye.

Re: Coronavirus Precautions - Hua Hin/Thailand
Foreign tourists must rely on their own funds or insurance to pay for their treatment if they test positive for coronavirus in Thailand, government officials said.
So that pretty much negates what you thought, however the article is nearly a month old and things may change but I very much doubt it.

No, I think you are reading it incorrectly. As I said, go past the headline/1st paragraph. Or am I reading it with a lot of wishful thinking?
I know the article is old, hence my, "I'd read early on." All that I'm saying is the 7th Apr message seems to be confirming the March article.
