Indian restaurants in Hua Hin

We went to Karan Cafe near Dusit D2 .Food is good but for me it is overpriced for size of portions and quality of service. Almost same price as good restaurant but you have the decor of cafe with cheap metal plate and so on....like a cafeteria

Never had any crockery issues when I've been there. Yes it has a cafe feel as opposed to Shiva which is quite delightful but the food is poor in my direct experience. I know where I would prefer to eat for certain. I just won't go to Shiva again.Big Boy wrote:Karen Cafe was on my to do list, but the thought of a cheap metal plate has my teeth cringing in anticipation. I'm afraid I will have to give it a miss.
And I'm sure the Karan owner Bikram would make sure you don't get a cheap metal plate if you asked him
The food, which is very good as the above poster agrees, is maybe a little pricey but compared to which other Indians? Genuine question. I wouldn't mind a fair comparison of mains and side dishes at the various HH Indian establishments.
But I wouldn't be surprised if it revealed that Karan is a little higher than average
Not as high as the new Mukti from what I hear but that's a much higher standard of fit out to be fair.

I’ve not been to Shiva since pre-Covid days, so more than 3 years, but back then the food was of high quality - I accept that it could have gone down over that time, but I was always happy to pay a bit more for nice food in an excellent setting. I’m assuming their prices are still higher than most but if their quality has reduced they won’t be getting too many customers. I really must pay them a visit to make my own mind up!!

When we ate at Karan Café they did not give us metal plates. FWIW, I thought the portion sizes were quite generous. As I mentioned in my report, they looked small at first but the containers were deeper than we initially thought.
Re: Indian restaurants in Hua Hin
I was in there couple of days ago and the food was as good as ever, it's not gone downhill at all, and as someone who's eaten more indian food than Mahatma Gandhi, I'm surprised anyone thinks different, unless they're new to Indian food. Still a fantastic setting as well, they must have a regiment of gardeners to keep that looking good. Numerous tables full.Dannie Boy wrote: ↑Thu Mar 30, 2023 1:45 pm I’ve not been to Shiva since pre-Covid days, so more than 3 years, but back then the food was of high quality - I accept that it could have gone down over that time, but I was always happy to pay a bit more for nice food in an excellent setting. The biggest snake I've ever seen was wandering into Atcha a few weeks ago seemingly from the small blue house opposite. It really was a big bugger perhaps 3 metres long, I tried to alert the staff it was coming their way but I think they just filed me under the 'drunken falang pointing frantically at the road' category. As I got back in my car I was waiting for an ungodly scream from the restaurant but it never came....
Watch the specials board.....

First time very average food, second time average/poor. This was about 12 to 18 months ago.
The owner was very charming as were the gardens but sorry the food was not good.
The food at Atcha and Karan Cafe was very good
I will try Shiva one last time as some people insist it's very good

Has anyone tried "Mukti" at Hin Lek Fai
If so what's the verdict ??

Re: Indian restaurants in Hua Hin
Yes, very nice aircon restaurant. It had a previous existance as a restaurant before Mukti.
The food was excellent, what my friend and I had was up their with Atcha, where we have been numerous times.
However, the menu is very limited. Unless that has changed? When I first saw their menu online, I assumed there were a few pages missing, but nope, what I saw is all there was, basically less than 2 sides of A4, for everything, so limited curry's, starters, nan's at al.
They do have lunch specials which seem to be very well recived.
Off street parking at the front of the restaurant, which is on the Pala-U Rd.
Talk is cheap
