Request to see the head officer. He sits at the desk around the corner on the left. He's helpful and fair. Follows the rules but doesn't make up his own rules. Also, when you check in downstairs, talk to the woman at the left side table. The one on the right acts like the daughter of the ogre upstairs. And, finally, if possible, have someone who speaks Thai accompany you. It will make everything easier.

My reference to my bank statement for one year having to come from Bangkok was to the statement showing all transactions for the year- as also shown in my bank book.

Yes, that is what I talked about also.

i think ive read before that in Prauchuap KiriKhan, Immigration require a min of 6 months remaining on your current rented property agreement
im looking for any feedback as to how strict they are with this 'rule'?
in other words has anyone ever been knocked back on this as they fell short by a week or two?
Has it ever been mentioned?
TIA

I've never been questioned about that. I bring them 2 copies of my rental agreement, every page signed by me and they accept it. One caveat; I see the same officer every year so he knows me & I have the same agreement and have lived in the same house for 7 yrs. and he knows my landlady. He doesn't even bother to come by and take photos. In other words, anything that isn't listed on the TM form is bullshit and arbitrary.thecolonel wrote: ↑Thu Feb 25, 2021 9:38 am i think ive read before that in Prauchuap KiriKhan, Immigration require a min of 6 months remaining on your current rented property agreement

Well what a difference a year makes.
I went to extend my leave to remain this morning and after the unpleasantness and, in my opinion, the unprofessional attitude of the woman who processed my application last year I will admit to being a tad apprehensive as to what to expect, my fears were however unfounded as the said IO wasn’t there.
I was dealt with my a charming lady IO who I had previously had dealings with at BluPort, she was friendly and efficient, it was an altogether different experience.
There were not many of us waiting to be processed and I had noticed that she was a tad slower than her male colleagues, but that was because she was taking time to help applicants who had queries.
She told me that she’d transferred recently, I’ll miss her at BluPort.

Re: 'How To' - Requirements for visa extensions etc
My Retirement Visa Extension Experience Today.....
Couldn't have gone easier! I woke up early enough to believe that I could get this done. My initial retirement visa (switched over via agent from an ED Visa) expired on May 17th. My first stop was my bank, Bangkok Bank at BluPort, to get an update to my bank book and a letter of whatever-that-thing-is-called. I heard a rumor, which I could not substantiate, that Immigration wants to see a transaction on your account on the same day you visit. So I bought a coffee with my card at Starbuck's on my way downstairs.
A 15-minute wait and 100 baht lighter, I was on my way to Immigration. My first stop was the copy office for every page of my bank book, and of my passport, as well as that letter from the bank. The lady pointed out that my bank book only went back to last June (a replacement) and that it might be a problem, but she wasn't sure. I ran home and got my old bank book just to be safe. I popped back into the copy room real quick to get a copy of that as well. Oh, and she gave me a glue stick so I could affix a passport photo to the back of my TM7.
I went to check-in and the gal reviewed all my paperwork, had me sign the copy pages and then I went upstairs. Took my number from the machine and sat down. 12 minutes later I was seated with an officer. He stamped everything, took my money and picture and told me to have a seat. Eight minutes later I was out the door with my extension. No problems with the span of my bank book. I swear that I've had 90-day check-ins that lasted longer.

Re: 'How To' - Requirements for visa extensions etc
My annual update on extending my visa. I arrived at Immigration at 12:50 today, and was driving home at 13:30. The delay was the downstairs check. He was not a happy bunny - kept going through my bank book, muttering in Thai, and in the end phoned for his supervisor. He had quite a rant at her (at no point was anything said to me), but eventually everything was clipped together, and I was given permission to continue upstairs, where everything went smoothly.
The only change from last year (and every other year) was they were no longer interested in the Tabien Baan. This year they wanted my Yellow Book - yay!!! a use for the Yellow Book at last.
A query from last year was why they wanted a copy of Mrs BB's ID Card. I still don't know why, but they definitely needed it again this year.
So, I've been granted another year in paradise

That doesn't bode well for the majority of farangs that don't have a yellow book.

I’ve never been asked for a copy of my wife’s ID, but mine is not based on marriage, so is that the reason why?

Mine is also not based on marriage and only this year they asked for a copy of the blue book of my wife (I don't have a yellow book) and her ID. Never before I had to show the blue book.

It was the photocopy lady (IMHO the most knowledgeable person there) that requested it. That is what both the downstairs checker and the I/O saw, and said nothing untoward.
Normally you can put it down to the I/O you see on the day, but if the photocopy lady says it, IMHO that is as official as it gets.

I beg to differ and refer any IO to the official website on requirements. The more you bow to these unwarranted demands the more it will become the norm.
