Premierleague 08-09
premier league
Baa Baa, you said both teams were crap, you also said it was cracking game, isn`t that a contradiction. I have trawled through several UK newspapers on line and not one of them criticised either team. I would agree about Berbatov though, a luxury not even Man U can afford. I suppose the big test for Arsenal will be when their next opponents,"get in their faces" or whatever term is used to kick lumps out of them.
I thought it was a nice touch that they had a poppy incorporated into their shirts.

Would have been nicer if they hadn't had it done and donated the cost to charity!Arcadian wrote: I thought it was a nice touch that they had a poppy incorporated into their shirts.

Dtaai Maai, I know you are a wind up merchant, but to put the record straight the shirts are being auctioned and the proceeds given to the British Legion, will you be putting in a bid?

I know mate, I honestly hadn't looked at the table until we won against your lot, and was amazed at how close it is.
If we keep our run up for another couple of ganes we'll be on the edge of UEFA places. It's a funny old game.
Only one cert for me, the bigger team in Fulham to win the league, hope I'm wong though.

I'll be honest too, have always said he was a bad buy for us and not a top quality striker. It's great to be proved wrong though
He's joint top 3 Premiership goalscorer and he's done on the back of personal low confidence carried over from last season, in a badly performing team, ie: lack of quality supply, for most of our games.
But he's stood up (Hesky take note
) and taken the challenge head on.

PS: The last 8 posts have been about DB, someone change the subject now for the sake of the beautiful game ........

OK change of subject, yesterday I watched an ESPN classic game from 1999, Arsenal v Man U, it was striking that even in 9 years the pace of the game has increased dramatically, even more so when you watch footage from the 60`s and 70`s.
Don`t believe the old timers when they tell you the old players had more skill, the fitness levels required nowadays would do for them, wingers didn`t track back, that was a job for the half (remember them)and full backs, and their job was to kick any skilled wingers into the stands and not go beyond the halfway line, also no poncey foreign tricks like diving and feigning injury or alice bands to keep their hair in place!
Can`t remember if this post for or against the modern game, anyway it`s time for my Ovaltine.
