I watched every kick as it happens(or happened) yes very proud especially after the the very uncharacteristic gift by Tarkowski for their second goalDannie Boy wrote:Where’s the Colonel - expected him to be praising his Everton side in their 3-2 win over Palace?
Cant help feeling that a points deduction is coming our way and that it'll be awfully close in the end

I have no idea how justified this is, but it’s going to make survival very difficult - best of luck!!

Re: Premier League 2023-24
I'd honestly think any investigation to any and all clubs in the EPL would lead to "justified penalties" - there's simply too much money and corruption in the sport (the former leading to the latter). Far too many believe they are above the law.Dannie Boy wrote: ↑Fri Nov 17, 2023 8:00 pm I have no idea how justified this is, but it’s going to make survival very difficult - best of luck!!
[EDIT] Of course Wendyball Football is not alone - Professional Boxing is a farce and the money involved in pretty much all American Sports is a complete joke. How on earth do you expect anything to be "clean" these days?

Let's hope all teams that deserve the punishment, will get punished. Even if that meant the team I've supported for more than 50 years would be one of them. It's getting more and more ridiculous with all that money involved. But if only those who don't have the backing of the very rich will get punished, then it will be even more ridiculous.

Re: Premier League 2023-24
Completely agree. "The" sport for me is Rugby Union, and is far and away from the type of money we talk in the likes of the EPL. Yet, clubs have been protected in the past - Bath RFC who I have supported for 40 years plus have avoided relegation on a couple of occasions since the sport turned professional and undeservedly so. Top clubs having a great deal of influence with the governing body even to the point where rules were changed purely to "Ringfence" the league (no relegation).Bamboo Grove wrote: ↑Fri Nov 17, 2023 8:46 pm Let's hope all teams that deserve the punishment, will get punished. For me, Bath should have been relegated - I would remain a supporter, I always have. I lost a fair bit of respect to the powers that be then. I would hope that "true supporters" of any EPL or lower league teams would feel the same(?).

In the headline there is a clear "If"... Unfortunately, it's a massive "IF" when considering the clubs mentioned and the financial impact on the EPL/Broadcasters et al.Dannie Boy wrote: ↑Fri Nov 17, 2023 9:02 pm Definitely other teams at risk including some of the biggest names

Re: Premier League 2023-24
But then again, it's not the football only (I know, this sort of belongs to another thread) but I'm slowly losing my interest in F1 where the payments and corruption are very much at the same level. The difference between football and F1 is that I've supported two football teams since my pre-teens but F1 I've only been following since my 20's, when Keke Rosberg was driving and I don't really have a team to support there. Just individuals.

It looks like the spuds are now under re-investigation for a case from 2008, that they seem to have got away with, despite all the evidence of using an unlicensed agent, for which at the same time Luton were docked 10 points and a hefty fine. From The Times, who did the investigation about this matter.
Too long to cut and paste the whole article, so use the 12 foot ladder site instead. Edit, it appears that this is being messed around with, but I just got it to work for a Telegraph paywall story, a bit messy and I had to scroll down a lot, but the story was there in full.
