Yeah you're right Caller it was 1975, the relegation game was at the end of the 1974-75 season, which is where I got it wrong.

Baa  Baa, you can get your revenge in the Cup game coming up.

So what do people think of Stoke? Okay, Arsenal were poor and if you can't defend the only weapon they have - the long throw - then so be it.

But they are a nasty team IMHO, some terrible challenges went unpunished by referee Rob Styles, who is clearly now well past his sell by date.

Of the teams promoted, West Brom are trying to play footie, Hull are having a ball and Stoke are trying to kick their way out of trouble. I hope they don't succeed.

they are pretty crap to be honest & yes we couldn't defend the long throw, which i might add is a great weapon in their armoury.
can't see it troubling all teams especially those with big attacking centre halfs.

agree, some were particularly nasty but you have to expect that to a degree, like it or not.
styles should've been put out to grass a long time ago, has he ever played the game?
v persie red card  for a barge??
shame on sorensen too, made a complete meal of it.

of the three promoted sides, hull, who i thought would struggle the most, seem to have the best mix of football & work rate to survive.

Bubbly, I am going to make a prediction, If Joe Kinnear and the team keep going the way they are.
Before the end of November Newcastle will make two big anouncements.

No1: Joe Kinnear will stay as their manager
No2: Mike Ashley will not sell the club & Dennis Wise will stay Director of Football

My main reasons for that is the fact that I think with Dennis Wise there in his current position as Director of Football, and him having previous dealings with Kinnear as a manager, I cannot see why that relationship would not work in the current situation. It seems to be at present

Mike Ashley obviously bought Dennis Wise to do a job at Newcastle. In fact he had done pretty well from the players that he bought to the club. It was just KK throwing his toys from the pram again when he cannot get his own way, that caused most of the shit from what I could see.

I for one cannot see why the Geordie's would ever want Keegan back again. They had a couple of good seasons under his management, but when things went wrong he pulled the pin (as he has done with most of his management positions).
To me personally he has never proved to me that he is the type of manager that will ever win an EPL or any other major competition.
His only success at Newcastle was to win the 2nd Division and take Newcastle back to the Premier, other than that has always resigned when the pressure seemed to be on him.

In Mike Ashley, if this happens, I think you will see a new more business like Mike Ashley who will probably behave more like an owner and not one of the boys.
He is a very astute businessman who at present is probably seeing the club perform how he wanted to under KK. If they carry on going in the current direction I think all will be forgotten by the fans, and he will stay

We have heard nothing bad recently in the press about Ashly, Wise or Kinnear.
I think the abuse Kinnear gave the press in one of his 1st conferences set a benchmark in establishing who was the boss at Newcastle.

I think it made the Players, Fans and other Staff at Newcastle take a step back and showed to all of them that he had full commitment to his new job and would expect nothing less from all of them.

So far people have seemed to take notice, so only time will tell.

Now would be an ideal time to start Alan Shearer's apprenticeship in management.
To me Kinnear is one of the old style managers who can command respect from the dressing room, much in the same way as Harry Redknapp.
What better way for Shearer to learn the ropes and when the time is right, Kinnear would step aside knowing that Shearer is ready to manage on his own. Much the same thing that happend at Portsmouth with Tony Adams.

Whether the last item regarding Shearer happens, I am not to sure, but if there was ever a time for him to enter into management and learn, this is the time.

Interesting points you make chelsea,i agree i think Kineer will keep the job and i hope he does. As a n'cle fan i've been sick of the continual change of management at the club. I never wanted Roeder to leave,he didn't do too much wrong and i also didn't want Big Sam to leave. If Ashley hadn't bought the club i think he'd be there still, and we'd be doing well.
Half the issue is the fans expect and they(we) expect too much. We want what Keegan nearly gave us. We did come very close and we were serious contenders who played lovely football.Remember those 4-3's against liverpool? and the 5-0 against Man u(Plillipe Albert, what a goal.Oh the memories). OK we lost the pool games but hell, were we entertained, and who else has given the geordies that in recent years???
Bobby Robson done well and was badly treated(that man is a true hero) and since then its been a gradual slide down the league. Now with Mr Kineer i think there's a bit of hope and maybe he will do well,as i said before i hope he stays. If he dosen't,someone else comes in(Keegan or whoever) and away we go again .
As for Shearer? i'd like to see him ply his trade in a lower league club and learn the ropes from the bottom up. I can't see it happening though
One thing i will say about being a N'cle fan,its never dull. Its not always good but its never dull.

Arsenal v Man U, fantastic game and for me a great result after all the crticism, even Ferguson acknowledged the quality. But what is Andy Gray on? Is he in love with Rooney and Ronaldo? Rooney lost the ball, ran 50 yards to foul Clichy and gets praised for his "effort". He liked the way Ronaldo didn`t cheat to get a penalty.

Sensational stuff at Upton Park.

The Hamsters ended 1 - 0 up and went off to the dressing room to celebrate only to discover that there was another 10 minutes of play left.

A slight misrepresentation there Guess - LUCKY Everton had TWO deflected shots plus one good goal in a game absolutely dominated by West Ham; the curse inflicted on them, probably because of some lucky heather scam inflicted by Millwall continues, as Matthew Upson goes off in the first half, to add to Dean Ashton out for the season, Kieron Dyer who may never return, Carlton Cole suspended for a red card that never was, Valon Behrami another first team injury, Mark Noble also injured, along with Danny Gabbidon, Jonathan Spector etc etc. If anyone saw the game it was just unbelievable, and that is now two weeks in a row that Everton have got away with it. I forgot to add that West Ham must be the only club bought by a billionaire who then proceeds to not only be as tight as a duck's arse but who also effectively goes bust. newcastle think they have it bad - HAH! :guns:

Thats what Sky kept telling me.

It was a good end to end game but both teams were crap today IMO.

Arse could have won about 5-0 nil if anyone apart from Fabregas was capable of playing a through ball.

Im glad Arse won anyway.

Not sour at all Mate. It was a cracking game and the result I wanted (That or the draw)

BUT....Its the first Arsenal match I've properly sat down and watched, relatively sober, this season, and I honestly dont think they are the amazing passing side they are cracked upto be.

Denilson could have made about 4 clear chances but just dithered on the ball. There is such a thing as "Fannying about to much"

Maybe awful defending, strikers missing chances, no pressing in midfield and constantly giving the ball away makes for a more exciting match but its Liverpool or Chelsea for the league.

Anyway, well done Arsenal, because before the match I honestly thought United would absolutely thrash them.

P.S Berbatov is a right lazy B*****D.
