Terry: Glad we sorted that little problemette out. 
Thinking back to the transliteration of the 'g' or 'k' sound. You'll often find that if it is the 'g' sound, then the letter K is used e.g. Kanchanburi or Koh (Samui). If it is the 'k' sound, then a Kh is used e.g. khai (egg).

Skip the romanization/transliteration all together and learn the thai alphabet. Its a steep learning curve, but once you know all the consonants and vowels, and tone id's it all makes more sense and you pronounce the words much easier. If your interested, I know a great teacher in Koaw tao..or Kaew Tao, or kow tow.
