Re: TOP GEAR
Seen it now. 2 hours of good entertainment as usual driving on roads which aren't out of place here in Thailand. Of course, full of the usual bullshit that we all love.
I reckon they must have been quite terrified getting out of Argentina, re-enforced by the route they had to take - that wasn't bull (either that, or I fell for it hook, line & sinker).
Thoroughly enjoyed it, and thanks for the reminder. Probably the 2nd best programme of the holiday TV so far.

Re: TOP GEAR
Anyone notice the front (infamous) number plate of the Porsche dropping off shortly after the start of the return to Argentina [Part 1]? A little ironic/certainly problematic the rear one didn't drop off at the same time!!

Re: TOP GEAR
The BBC has suspended Clarkson. I think this may be the end of the line for him, and perhaps the show. Pete

Re: TOP GEAR
Apparently for lamping (or at least trying to) the producer of the show over the fact that no food had been provided at one of the "shoots"........ they guy must like his grub!!
Whilst I have enjoyed the majority of the shows over the years, several (in recent seasons) have been with "dumbed down humour" in the extreme.... Clarkson is not quite as hysterical as he seems to think he is and is one arrogant tw@t...... liked and loathed in equal measures I would say.
The show had pretty much run it's course IMHO and I believe there was talk of axing it anyway - this (as Pete says) is probably the final nail in the coffin... That said, it seems a little strange not to air the final 3 episodes of this series (where filming has already been completed).
By all accounts there is a petition already signed by some 150,000 fans demanding his reinstatement..

Re: TOP GEAR
Why would the BBC axe a show that nets them 150 million pounds a year, I believe that petition now exceeds 250,000. Some dopey feminist on TV this morning suggested a pc solution would be to replace him with a feisty female presenter. Why not go the whole hog and find a black lesbian, that would suit the champagne socialists who now seem to run the Corporation. Personally I like the present format and all the presenters, perhaps I am one of the dinosaurs who do not fit the required BBC audience pofile.
Re: TOP GEAR
Clarkson for PM!
My God its big news in the UK and it has been handled shockingly badly by the beeb, as you would expect! Why wasn't this matter dealt with quietly and kept in house in the 1st instance? Do a very quick investigation, then make a decision. Why scrap the next show and the one after, mostly completed, for Gawds sake,
If he did thump someone, well that's the end of that. Clarksons contract runs out shortly anyway and its no secret that others are queuing at the door to snap up Clarkson, Hammond and May!
The petition has I believe, over 400,000 signatories now.
The beeb, the luvvies and liberati that have somehow become Britain's equivalent to Goebbels in determining what is or isn't acceptable in this media led age, will be glad to get shot of him, he doesn't fit in with their ideal of a PC harmonious society that only exists in their dreams and chats around their dinner parties. They can then oversee a beeb that is becoming increasingly irrelevant, at least in the UK, by the day.
I mean, the average guy in the street just sneers about this sort of reportage -

And it could cost the beeb aka taxpayers millions -
