I've only once been asked to do a road-side urine test
They actually made you stand by the side of the road and pee in or on something, or did they have a van of some kind?
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

I've been through those checkpoints and usually when they see my windshield sticker is up to date they just wave me through. A couple of times I have been asked to present my Thai driving license which I have and was waved on.

The times I had to pay was when I wasn't wearing my seat belt or when I accidentally stopped with the nose of my car in the pedestrian crosswalk at the red light in the center of town.

Just to set the record straight, I wasn't stopped since I had to park about 50 meters from the check point. When I left after I was finished at the school there, I did a u-turn, so again, I was spared, and probably would not have been fined anyway, since I there was no reason to fine me.

Like I said though, they were only pulling Farang over, and most of them got fined. They were most likely tourists without valid motorbike licenses. I can only think that was the case since all the ones who were stopped while I was watching had helmets on. Only two Thais got stopped, but they did not have helmets on.

Yes, if you don't have a license they you deserve a fine if you get one, but the last time I checked, very few Thai have a motorbike license, so why only target foreigners?

I personally don't have a problem with the MIB. After all, I've only had two fines in all my time year. 400 baht over the space of 14 years is hardly something to cry about, and besides, I only had myself to blame on both occasions.

Pee into a long thin plastic bag, at the side of the road and apparently if it goes pink you're in trouble. I don't know what drug it tests for but I wasn't the only one having a forced leak at the time. Maybe it was something new they'd gotten because it was about two years ago and I've never been asked to do it since.

I remember a similar question on here some time ago when a poster asked why the MIB did not stop Thais. The reply was "Thais have no money"

Perhaps they bottled it to sell as Thai Whisky.

Maybe they, the police, are paying attention to the bad press Thailand's transport system has been getting recently.

After all, a Thai with no license, no insurance and no helmet will simply just accept the fact that they have died(?) or lost a limb or been disfigured in an accident and 'mai pen rai'. Who cares really, they didn't care, no one will complain.

A tourist on the other hand, or their family, will demand to know why they were allowed to ride a motorbike without a license, insurance or helmet and lay the blame squarely at Thailand's door for allowing them to break the law. But they'll also complain when they get fined for not having a license, insurance or helmet despite that probably being the norm in their home country. It's a funny old world when you're not responsible for anything anymore.

I can't imagine female drivers would be too happy doing that sort of test.....
