OK, I work here, so it's not much of a problem most of the time but at the moment it's the long holiday for universities. For the 3 months that there is a holiday my beer intake has increased noticably as I have little to do and am out of my normal routine. It's great for me because I know it will end and I'll be back to work at a certain point but if I was retired then it would be way more dangerous. I'll break up the holiday with some travel later this month.
It's just too easy to do the indulgent pastimes(beer/restaurants/women/bars etc) as they are all so readily available. I have seen so many blokes that have gone down the drain like this.
BTW Randy, if that was your routine then it sounds like a decent day . The great escape from the UK beckons, I reckon!
I spent my past 2 winters in Bangkok and although I tried to stay in a few nights a week I ended up in the bars and clubs nearly everynight. As well as hurting the pocket it was playing hell with my liver so this winter I will try the calm of Hua Hin. I have only stayed there for 3 nights maximum each trip and got bored so 8/9 months could be a tester. Having a pool to relax by and getting back into Golf should help and the bright lights of BKK are only a couple of hours away.
Hua Hin has an interesting phenomenon - that of time change. Time seems to pass in a totally different way in Hua Hin than in other parts of the globe. You might think that you can beat it, but somehow this invisible phenomenon insidiously overtakes you. If you are not careful then so powerful is this invisible phenomenon, that you will find yourself coming back time and time again until the point where you totally submit to its powers and never leave. Don’t worry about whether 1 month is enough, for once your visit all resistance will thereafter be rendered futile.
Hi. i too will be making my first visit to Hua Hin early next year. The link to MapJack was terrific and I feel as though I have walked the city already. Funny thing about the images though. Seems the streets are deserted, maybe the time of day. Also, the business outlets seem to be lacking activity. Is it really quiet there. Will 1 month be boring? I tend to bar hop a bit and keep hopping till I find one wth a bit of fun going on. Nothing worse for me than unhappy bar staff. Anyway, thanks for the link to MapJack.

I think you will find that Map-Jack coverage of HH was filmed during the day so the film was easier on the eye and included more detail.
Only mad dogs and Englishmen, go out in the midday .
You could try and search Youtube or Viewze for Hua Hin bars/nightlife and that will give you a picture of the nightlife in HH.
Believe me, HH livens up at night and I'm sure you won't get bored.
Good luck.
I've lost my mind and I am making no effort to find it.
Thanks Don. Unfortunately, I am one of those early bird people who always wakes at 6AM regardless if I've had a night on the tiles. Seems really wierd to me that I just have to get up early. Given that, I normally go straight to the beach for a while then back for a big breakfast. If its a good day a full round of golf followed by a few beers then I flake for a couple of hours. Then its bar time. For others I know that they do not hit the bars till 10 - 11pm. By that time I'm 3 parts gone but sometimes can be lucky enough to get first dibs on a sweetie. I can't help but notice that the late arrivals at the bars are a funny lot. Usually shuffling in and taking up a position they have probably done for years. Anyway, each to their own. By the way, is swimming OK near to the pier?

Yes just like me , I rose around 5am and went down to sit in the garden to watch the sea and listen to the birds when we lived on Naebkehart Rd.
Don't know about swimming near the pier (can't swim ) but I think it would be dangerous with all the boats about. Someone who knows for sure will come on and let you know.

I can (barely) remember that life a few decades ago... must be nice to be young and in Thailand...
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?
