if its out towards the border??

maybe you can do it at the border too??? wondering ??

get a exit visa walk into burma for a few hours

maybe make a day of it!!! or buid a house there too

we can all put afew baht together and build or own tin shak wit air con
At the moment, the border crossing is only for Thais and Burmese. Farangs can't use it. That might change though if they do move down there. However, I like many others only need Imm for annual extensions and 90 day reporting and unless there's something really interesting on the Burmese side (?????) I wouldn't pay 1,900 for a re-entry permit and 10 USD just to go for a few hours. It might help those on visa exempt stamps though even if they would only get 15 days when they crossed back into Thailand as it's a land border.
Like the idea of an air con tin shack.

Heaven forbid we should ever think creatively about anything here, and that any new idea is chalked up to alcohol.

That "US versus THEM" mentality has worked out so well for us in the past . Why change it Right?

hhfarang wrote:Well, I for one will be sad. I counted a Hua Hin Immigration office as a sign that this place was getting more farang friendly and since they opened I have renewed my retirement visa four times there (once at the police station and three times on Soi 102) as well as doing my 90 day reporting here (instead of Soi Suan Phlu) for four years and I think it was one of the few things that made this place more habitable!

The officials there have always been polite and expedient with me and I appreciate that they have made the required paperwork for my stay here more convenient and hassle free.

If they move, and especially if they change staff, I, for one will miss them!

There are so many things I don't like about the way this country does business (especially the government) but Hua Hin immigration was never one of them.
Well said, hh. They've always been first class with me too. :thumb:

Soi 102 Immigration Office Move

Post by icebear »

It seems now we have already three good reasons not to live in HH anylonger, one is the health care I do need, the second is the non-availablility of an international airport and the other is an Immigration Office which is not 120 km away. I believe HH is in for a hard time.

Maybe they want to eradicate the chaos of queues of farangs with wrong paperwork (maybe our fault, maybe another rule change that morning), farangs getting irate, having to go home and get something else, therefore double dealings and wasted time on both sides.
Maybe they want Thai agents to go to Prachuap with all paperwork correct and a more streamlined approach.

The agent we use charged me 4,500 for annual extensions of business visa & WP and said not to go with her they didn't want me there, suits me. It'll probably be 1,000 - 1,500 for 90 day reporting. Yearly total at worst 9,000 Baht = 750 Baht/month never to have to worry about or see Immigration again. Bargain.

Forget these companies charging 10k for this or that, they'll come down as new one's start up. Anyone's wife looking for a sideline, 5k annuals, 1k 90-day'ers, 1000 clients = 8M Baht per year, you'll be rich ................... if anyone's seen my wife lately tell her I want to speak to her about something :D

Immagration moving out of Hua Hin

So now when returning from outside Thailand, say Vietnam or anywhere else for a trip, we have 24 hours to drive south to do the 24 hour check in with them. :cuss:

Immagration

So if we live in Cha-Am, which is in Petchaburi province, where do we go? Is there an Immagration Office in Petchaburi?

First and foremost may I agree 100% with HHfarang AND Mr Plum I have only ever received excellent and very helpful service on every occasion from the immigration staff at Singkhon soi 102 and I for one shall be sorry to see them go.Having sat waiting and having to listen to some of the BS and downright ignorance that comes from farangs to the staff there i think they have far more patience than i would have thats for sure

I however due to the arse falling out of the pound will have to change to a marriage visa in june which as far as I know can only be done in Bangkok so it probably wont necessarily affect me so much and 90 day by post was how I used to do it.

It is however the epitome of Thai politics Prachuap Kiri Khan province have a barn somewhere in the sticks down there and leaving immigration here in Hua Hin and now having to pay lease or rent for the offices would impact on their budget. SOOOOOO lets move it to PKK where we have Nil farangs and make the farangs come to PKK.
It also tells the Hua Hin overlords we have your nuts in the palm of our hands because we control the dosh/trough don’t mess with a 77th province

sarge,
Sorry to tell you this but the application for the visa extension based on income for a person married to a Thai has to be done at your local immigration office; they don't make the decision but you have to go through them.

What do you mean by this Pundit, why would you have to go to Singkhon Immigration when returning from overseas ? The port you re-enter Thailand at will stamp you in.
Or am I missing something here ?

You have to report to your local or Bangkok immigration office within 24 hours of re-entering the country (in addition to the stamp in your passport at BKK airport Immigration) is my understanding. If you don't you are liable for a (possibly hefty) fine. I've never had to do this since I've never left the country since 2005 and I think this rule came into effect in 2006 so I cannot verify it it is correct or not.

Maybe Lomu can clarify the requirement but I think it applies to all long stay visas and maybe others as well.

24 hour reporting is true for hua Hin but it seems that it may be only HH that enfores this and fines for non comlppiance. Last time I was at immigration for 90 day, they had a notice in English and Thai to this effect. And just to make it more awkward it should be the imm office in the place you are staying
