Re: VPN Recommendations

Really? I've never had that problem, but a 'good to know' work around in case it happens. In fact, I have a laptop permanently connected to the TV, with TV viewing being its sole purpose - I guess I could just change the time zone anyway

That’s what I did some time ago and 🤞not had a problem for ages. Even with my iPad set on Thai time it’s generally been ok, it was just All4 the other day.

Got a notice from Netflix saying to turn off if I want to watch last week.

Just had a renewal from ExpressVPN and they've hiked the prices 17%. May be time to start shopping around.

has anybody experienced difficulty in watching mainstream UK channels using Express VPN? for the past week I've found it either very unreliable or like last night virtually impossible.

Haven't tried streaming TV, but have experienced general problems with Express over the past week, slow access, some sites not even loading, etc.

Up until about 2 weeks ago, I was really struggling accessing UK TV. Basically being told I was not in the UK. I updated the software on each laptop manually (I hadn't seen the auto update window for quite a few days. Each laptop is working as well as I could hope for now. It might be worth forcing the update, which I eventually achieved through Control Panel (delete programme and repair).

My version is currently 12.56.0 (41)

Ok I’ll check my version later and see what is is - I’ve noticed that using my iPad doesn’t have the same issue so it seems like it’s laptop/windows related. Thanks

To clarify, I was about to uninstall/re-install the VPN when I came across the repair function.

If I could reach, I’d give you a kiss next time I see you!! I followed your advice and it’s now working fine, so thanks very much (and thanks for being a lot taller than me)Image

Yes, they used to tell me when an update was needed. That stopped a few weeks ago.

As well as asking on the Forum I also reached out to the Express service guys and as always they responded fairly quickly including sending the latest version to install (12.59) and mentioned about regular updates - the exact words were “The auto-update feature is gradually being rolled out to all users. If your app is not yet being updated automatically, kindly manually update it for now.”

Thank you, that explains a lot, but knowing the hardship it can cause, you would have thought they could have at least sent out an e-mail communication warning everybody, together with instruction for manual fix.

DB, is your VPN still working OK? Mine stopped working tonight - insists I'm not in the UK. I've reloaded the software on 3 machines, but can't get it to work.

My current version is 12.59.0 (42).

[Edit] I have opened a ticket with Express, but they suggest a 24 hour wait.

I managed to watch UK TV (ITV was playing up so I switched to BBC) it wasn’t perfect but watchable (I used London Docklands - Wembley wouldn’t work).
