I agree that the vaccines offered in the UK are tried and tested and generally speaking, the best available (based on world-wide testing), but as I said above, the public cannot request or buy a specific vaccine, they have to accept what the NHS (Government) offers - e.g. over 60 AZ, under 40 Pfizer etc.

To achieve their 100M, shouldn't they be counting doses administered before June 7 as well, or are they excluding those because they were mainly Sinovac?

Infact in the uk people well over 60 recieve either vaccine.

No, it sounds like a choice - which nobody has in Thailand regardless of their financial status. The junta should enable hospitals to procure and offer a range of vaccines, but they won't.

If there was a choice, It would only be a choice if you had money.

although in theory they claim in the UK you cant choose, you can easily find out which vaccine is offered at what pharmacy or surgery on that day.

for example in surrey, you have lots of vaccine centres that offer walk in and only have pfizer so if you want pfizer you can choose which walk in centre to use.

the above link shows a map with colour coded locations depending on which vaccine is offered.
Key: Orange = AstraZeneca, Blue = Pfizer, Purple = AstraZeneca and Pfizer, Dark Green = Moderna, Yellow = AstraZeneca and Moderna

so anyone can choose really, as there are several walk in locations for each vaccine.
obviously if you live in a small Scottish town 90 miles from any other town, you might not get the same choice.

I post this additional report this week because yesterday had huge vaccination numbers.

It looks as though they’re finally on track to comfortably hit that target before the end of the year - they were very slow getting started but they have a full head of steam now, hopefully they’re won’t be any obstacles in the way!!

Today's brief and several news sources are stating:

"PLEASE NOTE: Not all of the 2.2 million jabs were administered yesterday. Some of them were from previous days going back as far as Mahidol Day last week."

A good number, regardless.

Govt to finalise deal for anti-Covid pills 'in 2 weeks'
Thailand will finalise the contract to purchase molnupiravir -- the world's first oral medication to treat Covid-19 -- in the next two weeks, the Public Health Ministry said, adding the first shipment of the drug could arrive as early as November.

The head of the Department of Medical Services, Somsak Akkasilp, said the ministry has pre-ordered enough doses to treat 200,000 patients. A patient with mild symptoms will be prescribed 40 pills to be consumed over five days, he explained.

However, when asked about the value of the contract, Dr Somsak said the information is confidential.

The drugs may arrive as early as November if they are approved by the United States' Food and Drug Administration (FDA) soon, he said, before adding they will have to be approved by Thailand's FDA too before they can be used to treat patients.

The director-general of the Department of Disease Control, Opas Karnkawinpong, said, generally speaking, drugs don't have a 100% efficacy rate and are more effective when administered in the early stages of an infection.

Since Merck & Co announced its development of molnupiravir, many countries have been scrambling to secure their supply of the medicine. Australia, Malaysia, South Korea and Taiwan, for instance, are also looking into purchasing the groundbreaking treatment.
