Some Bangkok Embassies to stop Certification of Income Letters

Then you must only be refering to British, because when the issue about freezing increases to pensions went to court some 4/5 years ago it was stated that it was only in UK that the authorities froze the annual increases to their pensioners who left to retire elsewhere - unless you know and can evidence this not correct. I have certainly never heard of other countries freezing .T.O.M. wrote: ↑Sat Nov 03, 2018 2:23 pm A question that haven't really been discussed here is, that most of those using the income route probably still officially are living in their home countries (talking about Europe here)....to avoid their pensions being frozen.
If insisting on using income to meet the requirements here, they might risk that immigration gets in touch with your home country to confirm the income claims and the home country authorities find out, that you left 10 years ago and live in Thailand permanently.
So for those who have the possibility, I think going the 400/800k route is the safest bet.

Re: Some Bangkok Embassies to stop Certification of Income Letters
I know a Danish guy, who had been living here for about 25 years, who had his pension frozen many years ago. So he only gets about 30.000 baht/month....He is married...his visa requirements were grandfathered years back....so he only needs to show 200k/year...PET wrote: ↑Sun Nov 04, 2018 12:39 pmThen you must only be refering to British, because when the issue about freezing increases to pensions went to court some 4/5 years ago it was stated that it was only in UK that the authorities froze the annual increases to their pensioners who left to retire elsewhere - unless you know and can evidence this not correct. Re: Some Bangkok Embassies to stop Certification of Income Letters
Done a little homework.....Sweden & Denmark......Your income based pension will not be frozen with a move to Thailand. Whereas the base pension, the pension you will get, even if you never worked a day in your life, will only be paid out if you move to another EU country or Switzerland. So a move to Thailand will mean a cancellation of your base pension. Hopes that makes sense....PET wrote: ↑Sun Nov 04, 2018 12:39 pmThen you must only be refering to British, because when the issue about freezing increases to pensions went to court some 4/5 years ago it was stated that it was only in UK that the authorities froze the annual increases to their pensioners who left to retire elsewhere - unless you know and can evidence this not correct. Really .........
Really .........
Re: Some Bangkok Embassies to stop Certification of Income Letters

OK guys, we'd had enough distraction about pensions, and whether they are frozen or not. If you need to continue the discussion, please start a new thread.
This thread is about some Embassies ceasing the issue of Income Certification letters.

Take this as you will:
I've just returned from Bluport after doing my 90 day report. (unusually busy for some reason). At the desk, the IO was giving out the extension rules for next year without without any questions from me. "Next year you will have to put 65K in the bank every month starting February, or 800,000 as normal. I asked "Is this just the Brits, US and Australians?" - "No it is everybody. All embassy letters are cancelled". So I said "Is this just the opinion of Hua Hin immigration". "No." she said "It comes from Bangkok to all offices"
Every officer was giving out these rules to everyone without being asked! Being a Monday, I wonder if those rules came from Bangkok over the weekend.

Done and dusted, put the money in the bank or sell up and get out

If true, we would have received official letter from our embassies.HHTel wrote: ↑Mon Nov 05, 2018 3:28 pm Take this as you will:

BUT if they are married they should follow the marriage visa, in the end perseverence must prevail because hundreds have already been issued.StevePIraq wrote: ↑Mon Nov 05, 2018 3:34 pm Done and dusted, put the money in the bank or sell up and get out

What do you mean, keep on nagging and they will change the ruling for you.PET wrote: ↑Mon Nov 05, 2018 3:58 pmBUT if they are married they should follow the marriage visa, in the end perseverence must prevail because hundreds have already been issued.StevePIraq wrote: ↑Mon Nov 05, 2018 3:34 pm Done and dusted, put the money in the bank or sell up and get out
The system now is very clear 400/800k in bank of 65k per month, maybe a lower rate if married I do not know

Why should our embassies tell us? Well, maybe but don't bank on it.
And no-one that I can see is suggesting that the marriage extension won't remain in place. What, got be 50 to marry a Thai lady?

Well the UK embassy has told people, they don't have a list of every Brit in the country so they can't communicate directly.
