Supplies of Pfizer were only sent out to hospitals in PCK on Monday and the hospitals had little or no advance notice. That’s why they were scrambling late on Monday night to call people to come in next morning. In the circumstances I I think they did a very good job

A bit unfair on HHH. They already did Pfizer jabs on Tuesday. They can only use what they've been allocated.

Their communication is dreadful unless in high priority group.

Regardless of vaccine given, a automated email with updated estimated appointment dates for age groups would very useful.
People are having to register on several different hospital sites and write emails to other organizations to try to get a vaccine.
It should not be this way,
The private hospitals in bkk had no issue responding quickly and efficiently.
People are having to travel to other provinces to get it done, if they communicated better so younger people had a estimated date for a appointment it would save traveling and reduce risk
But we are the lucky ones, Cambodian and Laos people are probably being given very high queue numbers

The report that it is 'extremely rare" is not very comforting when it may be you that has the AZ vaccine.

By the time most people have had their 4th or 5th shot, they may have improved the situation.

Yes, but the thing to bear in mind is that according to a study just done in the UK the risk of getting thrombocytopenia after being vaccinated is 9 times lower than if you catch CoViD-19 and for venous blood clots the risk with the vaccine is 200 times lower than with Covid. Also, the risk is no different than the risk with most other vaccines such as the flu jab.

And in the UK at least, your chance of catching Covid if you're not vaccinated is still relatively high. It may not seem to be so high currently in Thailand but if the Delta wave continues, who knows?

This will set a precedent ... by paying up, they're admitting fault with Sinovac.

Family to get jab-death payout
The family of a 61-year-old woman who died in Chumphon province 10 days after receiving a Covid-19 vaccination will be compensated, the provincial public health office said.

Boonkerd Chimchinda, a vendor, was found unconscious at her home by her neighbour in Lang Suan district soon after receiving the Sinovac vaccine on Aug 11 at Pak Nam Lang Suan Hospital.

The woman was rushed to the same hospital for treatment, but she never regained consciousness and was pronounced dead on Aug 22.

Dr Jirachart Ruangwatcharin, head of the provincial public health office, said on Thursday an investigation would be unnecessary because Boonkerd collapsed and died during the post-vaccination observation period.

His remarks came after the hospital said she had died as the result of a stroke. Her family believe it was a result of the vaccine.

Dr Jirachart said he has told hospital officials to meet the family and help it file the compensation claim. He also extended his condolences to Boonkerd's family.

Thanan Faensakul, a 38-year-old relative, said Boonkerd had no prior health problems which made the family suspect the vaccination killed her.

Well, the thing is that many of the more sensational headlines quote the percentage of people hospitalized who have been vaccinated, ignorig the fact that as the percentage of people vaccinated rises, so does the proportion of those being hospitalized. For instance if 100% of the population were to be vaccinated then obviously 100% of hospitalizations (and there would still be some) would be of vaccinated people.

What's more important - and what the figures quoted earlier show, is that the absolute risk of being hospitalized or dying if you've been vaccinated, is extremely, extremely low

Makes you wonder how they set the priorities for distribution of vaccines - 12-18 year olds would be very low in most countries, even those with ample supplies of vaccines!!

My wife's granddaughter had her first Pfizer jab a couple of days ago. I don't know if it was a school thing or because she does have some allergy problems. This was in the greater Bangkok area.

Surely, 12 - 18 year old's should be organised with the schools. Each school knows how many pupils are affected so it would be quite simple to allocate the relevant number of shots to each school. Then the schools can organise 'vaccination days' when pupils will be given a time to turn up for their shot based on their school number.

Am I oversimplifying?

Thailand has received a lot of criticism for their vaccine roll out, and probably rightly so.....

However credit where it's due, I noticed that yesterday they administered 915,738 doses to bring the total to over 30 million!!

At this rate my wife might be able to return to Thailand this year!
