^ Yeah, it's been a bust over here as well today. What they said was coming, didn't. Perhaps tonight but it appears mid-Issan and Central are going to get the brunt of it. Pete

I'm in Patts for a few days and it started pouring down on Sunday evening right through until late Monday none stop, torrential rain. Today has been overcast but I suspect more is on the way for Patts

Doesn't hurt to resurrect the story about Typhoon Gay in 1989 which almost destroyed Chumphon province. Could happen again if one of these storms from the east, or monsoons, sits over the Gulf and re-gains strength.

Somewhere on here we have a photo of a large fishing boat sitting in a coconut plantation a few miles inland near Chumphon, which was deposited there by the storm. To my understanding Koh Tao was just about flattened as well. Pete

I got back into town yesterday evening and have seen plenty of rain already, I had a new water feature in the garden for a while this afternoon!

Was at Springfield today and by 3pm ish the blackness was really building up. Thunder and forked lightening maybe 20 miles away.
We should have got somewhere safe but played on. All we got was a little rain for about 15 mins.
Coming back into town, we were driving through seas of rain but by HH it had obviously rained but nothing like it had between the golf course and town.
Heavy stuff but obviously fairly local as well.

Here's the Himawari-8 satellite. As you can see, blue skies and no rain for the next few days it appears. The "storm that wasn't" once again. :( Pete

I know this is about the weather here, but compare the current situation in the UK. Hottest September day for 105 years gives way to a torrential storm only hours later!

From this you'll see where the water level in dams is now as compared to the flood year of 2011. Pete

Something new in the weather news for a change. Get out the snow shovels! :D Pete

BANGKOK — Lashing rains were forecast Monday to continue at least another fortnight but will end sooner than usual this year with the coming of winter, according to the realm’s seers of seasonal change.

Unlike last year, when winter officially took hold in December, the new chilly season will begin in the last week of October, at least in the kingdom’s northern reaches, the Meteorological Department has declared.

When will the coldest days fall? From mid-December through mid-January, it has foretold.

The department also said this winter will be colder than recent years with temperatures bottoming out at 6C. The cold spell will continue through mid-February.

Bangkok, however, will still face rain showers into November. The city will start enjoying the cool weather in December before it warms back up a bit in February. The lowest temperature predicted for Bangkok is 14C.

Heavy downpours will continue in the south until mid-January, especially along the eastern coastal regions to Chumphon province.

I am glad to hear that the Hua Hin area is getting some rain, and that there will be
lots of water in the reservoirs. Hopefully in January, and February the weather will be dryer and hotter, as
I am headed that way for 2 months. I just hope I can locate one or two of the Hua Hin commenters
while I am in Thailand this winter. It is nice to put a face to some of the characters i read on this
forum.

Really? We've had a couple of showers, but nothing that I would call rain.

There has been lots of flooding in and around Korat, yet the main reservoir is only 28% full.

Currently lots of heavy rain in and around Bkk, usually, it's just late afternoon.
