I’ve got the Atto 3 but I had a look at the Dolphin and as a local runaround it’s a good deal.
To be honest, it would have done for what I use a car for in Thailand but I liked the look of the Atto 3 and since I’m still working and could afford it, I thought I’d spoil myself!

Sorry Steve I got my car models mixed up, still it’s good to have the choice depending on your needs and finances

This comes back to an earlier question of mine. From the salesman's comments, if going on a journey, you'd have to plan it very carefully. Firstly to find a suitable charging station, and then hope that there aren't dozens of other BYDs queuing for the same facilities.

When I asked the question before, I was assured charging facilities were fairly universal, and it was never a problem. If the BYD SALESMAN is giving that sort of advice, either what I was told previously or the SALEMAN needs to find a new job. If I was considering buying a BYD, a stetement like, "The nearest charging stations to Hua Hin are Cha am and Pranburi and a PTT station somewhere," would have sounded massive warning bells, and I'd have been out of there straight away. The salesman is making BYD sound like a really stupid choice.

I'm seeing charging stations appearing everywhere. What are the car manufacturers they support please? I must say, I'd expect the car manufacturers to be displayed at the facility's entrance.
I guess it is more lost in translation, the Information of the Saleman sounds more that he was talking about the BYD Showrooms in Cha Am and Pranburi as there is non in Hua Hin.

I always thought there were two main charging connectors/types which you would have thought Charging Stations would have - but surely "Adaptors" (much like "travel Adaptor Plugs") are available?
I think Tesla have their own system but everything else I’ve seen uses the same connection.
I’ve noticed that many hotels in Hua Hin are putting chargers in their car parks and there are a load of them on the forecourt of Blueport Mall, both for Tesla and others, also outside the PEA office nearby.
My car has a range of 480km, which is way further than I ever drive in one day so all charging is done at home.

Yes I think as far as BB’s post is concerned, it was more a case of the salesperson not being as informed as they should be rather than the infrastructure being the main issue.

:? Maybe salesperson meant showroom because even I have seen charging stations outside blue port. I live in soi 112 so not really far. Do you happen to know approximately how long time it will take to charge a car like the Byd Dolphin from near empty battery to fully charged when using a charging station?
Thank you

If that is the case, and the salesman is giving that advice, had I been looking to buy, the guy would have lost me immediately.

As we all should realise, English language ability varies considerably in Thailand so we can’t always expect perfection.

To my limited knowledge, I think I am correct in saying there are 6 Tesla charging stations on floor 1 of the car park, plus 3 further on the forecourt of Bluport, by the junction with the Petchkasem Rd. On the ground floor of the car park, there are either 6 or 8 charging stations, but not sure what brands they are for? There might be others, but not that I have noticed.

A pretty basic mistake by somebody who is trying to sell the cars - I've said my piece, at least you guys have cleared it up.

I tend to follow the news on cars both ICE and EVs - admittedly geared to the UK, but there's been some interesting news of late, both with a "Realistically Fun EV" and yet another U-Turn by a completely unrealistic and clueless UK Government.

When saying a "Realistically Fun EV", I mean a car with very good performance but not the stupidity of 2 or 4 second 0-60 times. The Peugeot's performance, size and practicality is nice to see in today's world of SUVs, idiotic acceleration and high costs, there is a very decent option in the UK... But oh did I enjoy the ICE Peugeot 205 GTI in my younger years!!

"Peugeot has announced it will reveal a sporty version of its electric e-208 on 13 June, just before the famous Le Mans 24-hour race.

This new model will bring back the GTi name, which hasn’t been used since the last Peugeot 308 GTi was discontinued in 2021. It will also be Peugeot’s first fully electric performance car.

We don’t yet know many details, but Peugeot says the car will be powerful, quick to respond, and fun to drive. It’s expected to be a rival to the upcoming Alpine A290.

Peugeot’s CEO, Alain Favey, confirmed earlier this year that the GTi badge would return. He said this model is a way for the brand to connect with its past and show how road cars can share a spirit with Peugeot’s racing efforts, such as its 9X8 hypercar in the World Endurance Championship.

He also said Peugeot wants its cars to stand out for how they feel to drive, whether you’re behind the wheel or just along for the ride.

Favey suggested that this might not be the only GTi to come, but for now, the focus is on the e-208. Peugeot will listen to customer feedback before deciding whether to make other GTi models.

The e-208 GTi is expected to use the same electric platform and motor as the new Abarth 600e. That car has 237bhp and can go from 0 to 62mph in around 6.2 seconds. A lighter, lower version of the e-208 might be even quicker."

As for the @rsewipe Government we now have to endure throughout the UK but have suffered from for countless years in Wales :tosser: . It will do nothing of course as the damage has been done. Manufacturers who lowered their prices below the £40K limit (at a loss) will now simply increase them. Taxes on EVs, costs of energy and the utter BS "Zero Emissions Policy" from Miliband has screwed us (along with much else involving dinghies and hotels).

"The Government is planning to scrap the so-called 'Tesla Tax' on new electric vehicles (EVs) after warnings that it's putting buyers off and slowing down EV adoption. A leaked letter from Roads Minister Lilian Greenwood, seen by some media, confirms that changes are being considered for the next Budget."

Back in about 1993 I was working at Frankfurt Airport and one of my colleagues had one of those.
I remember going down the autobahn in it at some ridiculous speed and feeling that I wished I was in something a bit more solid going that fast!

Yes safety in cars of that era were virtually non-existent compared to today’s cars.

From what I understand these days, especially with EV’s, the way their batteries are incorporated into the chassis makes them inherently more safe than even modern ICE cars - probably with that extra weight, in a car crash, it’s like putting a heavyweight boxer up against a middleweight boxer - size will win!!

I had the 205 1.9 GTi in 1994, a very rapid little machine that stuck to the roads like shit to a blanket. Now, if you could have that much fun in an EV (without having to recharge every half hour) for a couple of grand, I'd be tempted!
