How many people work at this Dole pineapple factory? It seems the infection numbers go on and on. Are they just in "the hell with it" mode and continue working and simply handle cases as they arise?

Pineapple processing in Thailand is dominated by Dole Thailand, established in 1974. Today it operates canneries in Hua Hin and Chumporn, and one 3,200 acre plantation the Ratchaburi province. Dole Thailand gets is supply of pineapples from its one plantation, but mostly relies on its network of 1,200 independent growers in the surrounding area. Dole tries to ensure quality standards by requiring growers to buy certain chemicals and fertilizers. As of 2005, Dole Thailand employed a total of 5,000 permanent workers, and 3,000 seasonal workers on their plantation and at their canneries.
I would guess that the workforce is bigger today.

CHA-AM FISHERMEN’S COMMUNITY SEALED AFTER 30 COVID DETECTIONS

Proactive measures to test members of the community at the Cha-Am fishing village has resulted in positive test results for 30 individuals, 29 were citizens from Myanmar and one a Thai person.

These 30 detected individuals yesterday (Thursday 15th July) are now isolated with testing continuing in the area.  Under a ‘bubble and sea’ strategy, movement of community members will now controlled with individual isolations required for those tested positive or considered to be at high risk.

Public health officials have also been active to reinforce the need to follow protective measures requiring high levels of hygiene and observance of distancing measures.

NEW PROVINCIAL RESTRICTIONS NOW APPLY BUT WITHOUT CURFEW MEASURES

The Governor of Prachuap Province has signed an order on Thursday (15th July) to enhance measures to prevent and control the epidemic of COVID-19 .  This relates to the province being a red zone with high control measures required.
The Order does not include any curfew measures; however the following restrictions now apply:

- Places for exercise such as gyms and fitness centers can provide services until 9 PM.
- Sporting events must limit the number of spectators and comply with prescribed preventive measures.

When we were registering at Cha Am hospital this morning, there was an elderly Thai man who said he was from that community and was booking his vaccination - I hope he had already been tested for Covid and found negative!!
