Keeping my fingers crossed for a continued rise or stability until Wednesday at least.

Re: GBP vs THB
It's remained quite steady recently between 40 and 41 but now it's taken a downturn and is almost 39 dead.
I can never get it right. If I transfer a lot, then it's followed by a rise. This time I transferred a modest sum and it followed below what I exchanged. "Hooray, I got it right!" But now it's sinking further so should have transferred more when it was close to 41.

I think this is a period of uncertainty, maybe the money markets are waiting to see what happens with the easing of the lockdown.

Hasn't it been a period of uncertainty for the pound since at least 2008?

We’ll definitely since 2016 when leaving the EU was announced and the whole world is now facing uncertainty, so predicting which way the money markets will go is even more difficult than its ever beendtaai-maai wrote:Hasn't it been a period of uncertainty for the pound since at least 2008?

The US dollar is the go to currency in times of extreme crisis - because of its size and the massive amount in Treasury bills held by many other countries eg China

Pound seen falling 5% if UK trade talks with EU go nowhere
The pound, a barometer for markets through four years of Brexit twists and turns, will probably weaken by 5% if the U.K. and European Union fail to reach a trade agreement.
The currency may fall to $1.25 by the middle of next year, according to a Bloomberg survey of nine strategists, as the disruption exacerbates economic damage from the pandemic. Sterling was little changed at $1.3191 as of 4:38pm on Monday in London.
“The prospect of a no-deal exit still involves a substantial decline in sterling’s value, as the fragile UK economy experiences another downside shock that can’t be met with wide-sweeping fiscal stimulus measures, and is likely to involve negative rates from the Bank of England,” said Simon Harvey, a foreign-exchange analyst at Monex Europe.
Leaving with no agreement at all would bring additional difficulties to businesses in the form of new trade barriers and quotas. The UK economy is already under strain, with growth further below its pre-crisis levels than any other Group-of-Seven economy.
That said, the results were less pessimistic than data gathered from a similar survey in June, which showed respondents expected the pound to slump to $1.18 if there’s no deal. A survey in August 2019 suggested the currency would fall to $1.10, the weakest in more than three decades.
