To avoid confusion the pedestrian crossings are there so the ambulances know where to go.

Double parking, I thought you could double park anywhere as long as you are gone from the vehicle for a short time, 15 or 20 minutes. :roll:

actually I think the law also stipulates that such parking must

1) be immediately round a corner so turning vehicles end up swerving madly;
2) be in a busy side soi that is just wide enough for 2 pickups to just pass each other;
3) In the darkest part of a soi after sundown;

Failing the above it is permissible to park in only the most stupid of places....like just in front of traffic lights or across someones gate.

Any sign of consideration for other road users will result in a tea money raffle ticket. :thumb:

I used to work in Jakarta and there they had an even bigger problem with double parking. In the worst areas they stopped it by putting a lane divider in so you couldn’t do it without blocking the car behind you and even that didn’t always work!

flashers

Sandman, you forgot to mention those flashers.

The purpose of these is to legalize any action you might be taking such as double parking, blocking the flow of traffic completely or driving up the road on the wrong side.

They basically signal, "Look at me! I am doing something stupid and I know it!"
Which I suppose is better than doing something stupid and NOT knowing it.

Also the bigger the pickup/car the more stupid you are allowed to be.
Two pickups coming towards me down the canal road yesterday, I was on my bike pulled into the kerb and the one who was overtaking his wing mirror brushed my arm. No harm apart from my nerves. Probably wear water wings in the future safer in the canal.
Anyoe know where you can by floats for a small m/bike :)
Woke up this morning breathing that's a good start to the day.

Good thread about what to do at these new pedestrian crossing-style
road-markings.
Now we have cameras at the 2 main intersections (oo,thats a big word,
my biggest so far was 'wheelbarrow'). While sat waiting for 'green' I
spotted a laddered-mast with the spyball-dome up top (with cameras
inside), plus we have a pair of rectangular jobbies pointing at us also
from the opposite side.
Can any of you technically-minded folk out there tell us more about this
...are they using 2 seperate systems? Have they got all the moniters
tuned into traffic-flow or Thai soaps??
Are the MIBs catching up with Europe when fines are posted to the
registered owner of the number plated vehicle??
