If England keep playing like that they could win the world cup this year.dtaai-maai wrote: ↑Wed Jul 21, 2021 5:52 pm ^^It's a women's game this evening. The first men's game is tomorrow.
Incidentally, if you're interested in cricket I hope you caught the 3rd and final T20 game between England and Pakistan yesterday. It was quite something!

Re: Cricket
Is anyone watching The Hundred? The presentation is a bit... how can I put it?... Radio 1 - DJs, flashy (and intrusive) graphics, live entertainment between innings. It's not really that different from T20, in that you have a limited time to score as many runs as possible. One thing I have noticed is that there are a lot of families with kids in the crowd, which has to be good for the game.
As I type I've just seen one of the best caught and bowled dismissals I've ever seen.
Games start at 6.30 BST every day for the next 3 weeks or so. Men's and women's games on alternate days (but don't bother with the women's games unless you're desperate).
Some games available on the BBC, all on Sky Sports.
EDIT: Wrong: all games are daily, women in the afternoon, men in the evening.

Re: Cricket
I've watched a few of these games now, pretty much every day (weather permitting, this being an English summer
), and I'm enjoying the format.
Am I the only cricket fan here?
To be honest, I'm feeling a tad let down by the forum at the moment.
What with the lack of cricket comments, the unmoderated chaos and bitter recriminations on the cycling thread, the clear victimisation I've received from BB & Son, and the constant piss-taking (not to mention unannounced disappearances) from pharvey, I feel battered and bruised. Hurt. Beleaguered. Unappreciated.
Frankly, I don't know how much more I can take. I'm logging out now, I may be gone some time...

/\ Dm..You don't need us now. You've got Alexa to keep you company, (and yes my Googlie Ass. makes the fart noise as well
). So do what you gotta do, get on your bike and have some fisticuffs with irate petrol heads. Pick up your brand new electric car and run out of juice on your way to a cricket match.. that will cause a gridlock thereby pissing off the angry brigade even further
.
BTW, stop being a DQ, there's only room for for 1 on here

Cricket in the Olympics: ICC to bid for sport's inclusion in Los Angeles 2028
https://www.bbc.com/sport/cricket/58155975
The International Cricket Council is bidding to have the sport included in the Olympic Games.
The ICC says its "primary target" is being added to the 2028 Games in Los Angeles.
It would end a 128-year wait for the sport to be included, following its only previous appearance in the 1900 Games in Paris.
The sport will feature as a women's event in the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.
ICC chair Greg Barclay says the "sport is united behind this bid" and that the Olympics are part of cricket's "long-term future".
"We have more than a billion fans globally and almost 90 per cent of them want to see cricket at the Olympics," said Barclay.
"Clearly cricket has a strong and passionate fanbase, particularly in South Asia where 92% of our fans come from, whilst there are also 30 million cricket fans in the USA.
"The opportunity for those fans to see their heroes competing for an Olympic medal is tantalising."

Re: Cricket
By 6 wickets. A hugely important win for England in their first game of the competition. The bowling, fielding and captaincy were magnificent. The only reason England lost 4 wickets is that they were trying to win the game really quickly because the run rate could be a factor later on.lindosfan1 wrote: ↑Sat Oct 23, 2021 11:29 pm England beat the West Iindies by wickets.
