was in HH for 2 weeks ago two weeks and one night a giant thunderstorm created a downpour not seen by many for long times (Old hands confirmed this to me)
were caught in a eating joint near temple, staid there for an hour, run quickly to one of the bars in Binthabat, stayid tehre for the remainer of the downpour ( 11pm), had a ball as there were more then one trapped.
so in short, if caught you have an option of getting wet or getting wild >)
will get back tomorrow and make a nice report about the weather if you like..
I recently discovered that most imported films at Major Plex, Hua Hin are in Thai. Cartoons seem to be easier to overdub in Thai so, for example, Ice Age 2 is in Thai. Lots of the films are actually home grown Thai products too.scorpiolady wrote: Are the films in English in the cinema?
As for rain, if its heavy the reality is that streets fill up quickly both in town and the burgeoning 'suburbs'. We have had fish swimming down our soi! Wear flip flops at all times and leave your best shoes at home!
One thing about the wet weather is that it brings out the "best" in bad Thai workmanship.
About a month ago, after heavy rain, we noticed a leak in the kitchen ceiling coming through the plasterboard. Informed the owner who came round and told us to keep an eye on it. A couple of weeks later, more heavy rain and this time more water in the kitchen. The owner duly turned up with his workman who went up on the roof and reported 4 broken tiles which were replaced that day.
So, this afternoon it's torrential. I go into the kitchen to check on things and it all looks good. Carried on watching a film in the bedroom. 5 mins later, the wife came running in and dragged me back to the kitchen. We might as well have been outside. Called the owner - "oh it's a holiday. Can't anything for two days". "Tell him the ceiling's going to collapse", I tell my wife. He dosn't seem too worried and sure enough 10 mins later, it does.
Why can't these people take heed? It's always "mai pen rai" and "why do today what can be put off till tomorrow?".
Net result, the owner may well have to spend more than if the job had been done properly the first time and we're inconvenienced. Hope it dosn't rain again for two days. Somehow, with reports of cyclones coming in from Burma, I reckon we'll be flooded again

Most cartoons are not overdub, but recorded in many Languages . If fact they are recorded by well know actors of the countries that are to be shown in. This may mean some jokes and characteristics are changed for the target audienceJaime wrote:I recently discovered that most imported films at Major Plex, Hua Hin are in Thai. Most Thai cinema have 2 showing of dub films, one dubbed and one in English with Thai subtitles, being shown at different times. So if you have children that want to go see a film, check the version and times. I been to many films and the cinema are better than most in the UK
but if not have children stay in the bar, the best place to be
Bond: "Who are you?"
Pussy: "My name is Pussy Galore."
Bond: (pause) "I must be dreaming..."

I am not sure that that is true. I beleive that the Empty Quarter of Saudi Arabia and parts of the Sahara Desert get less rain. It has not rained on the Sea of Tranquility for 75 Billion years.suede wrote:I heard Hua Hin is the dryest place to be.
BTW, what I do when it is raining is run around the house putting plastic containers everywhere that water is expected to leak through the roof.
It's quite good fun. You have to remember exactly where the leaks are from the last time it rained and in which order they start to leak. I now have an ongoing bet with my wife as to who can catch the most water in one day.

What to do on rainy days ?
Get with that one special person in your life, enjoy a romantic dinner, a movie, then hours & hours between satin sheets making passionate wild love in a air-conditioned love nest. This seems to pass the time quit well.
