Just as I predicted earlier..it's looking like ALL Hua Hin bars will be closed on the 13th FFS!!! :banghead: :banghead: (Or if they are open they are not allowed to sell beer/spirits).
This is not yet fact, but is looking likely.

Hello mate if this is the case it will impact on future tourism for Songkran in coming years just plain stupid.
As they hike air fares up who will make the effort to enjoy a "dry" Songkran pardon the pun.

Yes Kendo, & the-powers-that-be have also stated they do not want loud music played, & do not want to see ladies dressed scantily.
Water fighting & loud music kicked-off down Binta about 11.00pm last night..  :thumb: :thumb:

(It has been suggested within the bar-scene that IF the 13th is a dry day, then the 14th may become the main day for partying.. :naughty: :naughty: ).

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU KENDO..

Not me, I'm coming out in a couple of weeks and it's probably the cheapest ticket I've ever booked in over ten years of travelling to Thailand, £452 Luxembourg to Bangkok with KLM.

Songkran events in Hua Hin and Prachuab Province

Post by usual suspect »

So here we are, Richard & myself enjoying a few 'cold ones' in the bar.
Outside in the street however it's a full-on battle with girls from the bars around us getting a good soaking, as well as dealing out the constant barrage of Ho2 from their Super Soakers!
Within the numbers of revellers we also have Farangs going at it non-stop with their high-powered water-guns..& here's where I come to the observation both Richard & I saw..
(Apart from their water being as cold as our beers!)....

...All we hear annually are reports of injuries over the Songkran period..well there's no fri**in' wonder
when it seems everytime a motorcycle comes by EVERY water-throwing participant fires at the
rider's face! :banghead:
Cocky Farangs were taking steps forward to aim at rider's heads so as to cause maximum
'water-impact', Thai kids were filling those 'tupperware' bowls & slingshotting the contents directly in
the rider's face FFS. :tsk:
(These are young kids doing this to their elders, even with their mothers present).
There seems to be so much aggression involved here..but WHY..??

At one point a customer opposite us DID indeed have a serious 'word' with another farang who blatantly fired at a lady on a m/cycle whilst behind her was another holding a baby..(we both decided that our gun totting farang was not blessed with much common sense a good half hour previous to this).

"C'mom Richard you old trout..your round"

It would seem the New Year celebrations have come a long way from pouring water over fellow family-member's wrists & palms.
And maybe indeed the Governor of P.K.K. may be doing a wonderous task by banning alcohol sales, whilst ensuring lots of 'events' (such as foam-parties) to take place over the 2-3 day busy period for
families etc to enjoy in relative safety. :D :)

"Richard!..you sneaky toad, you just got her a drink did'nt you.."?

HAPPY (& safe) NEW YEAR TO YOU ALL...

Hope I'm not being to steadfast & boring here..?

I was in Bintablok for the first time in 7 years. It was absolutly manic. But quite good fun also. I mentioned the alcohol ban tomorrow and was laughed at. Unless a bar has been served notice by the police then it aint going to happen. The bars I spoke to have had no such notice. So tomorrow, it's business as usual I guess.

   :agree: I will be navigating my way into the heart of the mayhem along with my kids within the next few hours. I go there every year for the craziness, the first time being when our oldest daughter was three years old. Never had any problems yet and certainly never witnessed any aggression.

Having said that, I do of course realize that there are a lot of expats here who really hate getting their slippers wet. :duck:
Don't try to impress me with your manner of dress cos a monkey himself is a monkey no less - cold fact
