Alternative Routes to & from Hua Hin to BKK
Re: Alternative Routes to & from Hua Hin to BKK
At the risk of being slapped on the risk for self promotion, but more of a service for concerned travellers,

Re: Alternative Routes to & from Hua Hin to BKK
If we might add the route from Dusit Thani Bangkok (Silom Road/Rama IV Road) also remains dry at present.
Re: Alternative Routes to & from Hua Hin to BKK
I had a friend leaving today and he decided to chance it the usual way. I got a text from him at around 3:30 that he made it to the Bangkok airport from Hua Hin in a little over three hours by the usual roads, including the (barely flooded) Rama II.
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?
Re: Alternative Routes to & from Hua Hin to BKK
Thanks Lee great idea, please keep this thread going everyone as honest and unbiased inormation is in very short supply. Lots of worried visitors arriving over the next few weeks desperate for first hand information.

Dear Moderator,
We had always understood a forum to be a place for open discussion and joined this one thinking we could use our position in the community and service industry to assist those who might be in need of help and advice.
It was never our intention to blatantly self promote ourselves, rather to respond to satisfied (or disatisfied) customers or answer questions that might be asked about our services or about areas where we had firsthand knowledge.
We do believe that if you refer back to our very first post, it was to respond to a customer - and regular poster of yours - who wrote a report about our food & beverage services (The thread was after all named Dusit Thani Carvery, but not started by us). We then answered all subsequent questions addressed to us on that thread. However, we were warned off, even though by not responding we would have risked being told that we didn’t care or answer questions.
With the current flooding situation, we thought by replying to concerned posters with an alternative they might not know about, we might be able to reassure worried customers that our shuttle service was still running and was able to offer them a route to Hua Hin and Cha-am (the thread was after all called 'alternative routes to and from Hua Hin to Bangkok').
If we had wanted to use this site for self-promotion, we would certainly have been more active than we have been and signed up long ago under a less obvious user name. We have not started threads, nor trawled through any specifically looking for the opportunity to 'blow our own trumpet'.
We do operate our own hotel newspaper, the Hua Hin Sun, in which we happily support and advertise those who help us without seeking remuneration and will continue to do so.
We have no wish to further tarnish our reputation and goodwill by being drawn into a slanging match on Hua Hin After Dark. Regretfully therefore, as it seems our contributions were not welcome on this site, we would like to be de-registered and in doing so wish you and the site every success in the future.

I dont want to get into politics or Forumn rules, but this seems to have been a genuine response to a genuine request and not an intention for the DTHH to try to self-promote themselves.
Apologies all round would get us back to status quo, which is surely good for the forumn and all of its users?

The rules to this forum are simple, self promotion of business interests by the owner or employees of the business is forbidden - these rules everyone agrees to when they register, we simply uphold them on the board. If your minivans were free for flood victims it would have been a different story.
Discussion on our actions and policies is also forbidden, here are those rules again for those that need a reminder: viewtopic.php?t=1783
Now, please

I, for one, am GLAD that DTHH has been slapped down for daring to explain their solution to the current problems surrounding transfers. These unscrupulous bar-stewards have spammed this forum 11 times, either blatantly promoting their transfer services during the floods or explaining their buffets to customers on a thread duscussing their buffets--HOW DARE THEY.
Personally, I feel that DTHH merits a ban for life, but only once they have suffered 10,000 lashes with a wet noodle (Wet noodles NOT being available on their buffet, just to be sure) Further a crippled duck should then dance on their user-name's grave (Dancing duck-feet also not being available on their buffet) before they are sent to purgatory (Purgatory NOT being a stop on the latest modified Hua Hin to Swampy route they offer)
Sorry, I do agree with the no self-promotion rule, but let's be a wee bit reasonable here.....

As an alternative method of transportation from HH to Bkk, I have many many times used the Dusit "Sprinter." It is convenient and I believe little known way to travel back and forth with many things to recommend it including safe sane drivers and seatbelts. I am forever telling friends about it and I have to agree with DannyBoy up there.

We travelled from Suvarnabhumi yesterday (Saturday) leaving at 16:45 arriving home in Hua Hin approx 20:00, road was fine all the way, traffic a little heavy at times seem to be many more trucks about, guess there moving more supplies than normal. We had 1 stop to use the usual on route.

usual suspect wrote:Lee..thanks for starting this topic..it is one I WILL be monitoring as I land at Swampy on Tues mornin'.
I've heard of the shuttle-bus from BKK rail station to Nakon Pathom...but cannot find any info on if the area around Halump-along is flooded or how to get there from the airport with 30kg+ of luggage & a disability..??
(most reports say the airport rail-link is no good if you have luggage..?)
Maybe get my 'Dragon' to charter a 6-wheel truck to tackle any pending Rama-water..55!
Lomu has told me that the airport link train is fine with plenty of luggage space - but thats the main direct line. I would certainly be unsure about doing further changes from Makkasan to get to Umpa Lumpa with your luggage and legs darl! Then the prospect of a 3 hour bus tranny to just find the train? Hmmm.
Enter the dragon....

Just been trawling the various Thai forums (yes I know..I always end up returning to this one tho')
Rama ll was still dry mid afternoon today (13th Nov). But if it does flood there is a good 10KM stretch of road thats gonna cop it seemingly...as ever we have to wait n see...?? U.S.
