Actually it was Floyd that got Stein involved in TV years ago. Apparantly Stein had been resisting it... and the rest is history.

Didn't see last nights prog, but heres the link to the beebs iplayer to view the programme in full:

I didn't think the BBC iPlayer worked outside of the UK.

Wouldn't JD's link be a better bet?
Championship Plymouth Argyle 1 - 2 Leeds Utd

I beg to differ.

I'll try and find the classic where he's well pissed trying to cook and the guy always bollocks his camera man.

As for Keith Floyd, he bought a very nice riverside pub on the river Dart in Devon, changed the name to Floyds and turned it into a "gastro pub". Beans on toast for 5 quid, went bust very quickly, surprise surprise!!

Hm. I think i may rock the boat a little.
Floyd went round the world showing us what food was out there.
Long before we had heard of jumbo jets and cattle class.
He seems to be a 65 year old piss artist (being treated for stomach cancer at the moment. Hmm not a good selling point i guess)
I would have a drink with him any day and i am sure it would be fun.
Apart from the obvious "Camerons".
There are some excellent chefs and campaigners out there.
Jamie oliver tried to stop our skoolkids eating crap.
Hugh fernley witherthingthing campaigned for good animal husbandry.
And now Rick Stein. I personaly couldn't give a monkeys testicle if he made a lot of money out of Padstow.
They all saw a gap in the market and took a chance and won.
Personaly wish i had thought of that scam 5 minutes before them.
After all it's only entertainment and the wonderful thing about the tv and the computer is they have a big button on them saying off.
No axe to grind guys.
Just another point of view.
Now where was that beer?

No argument from me there Komfortablynumb as long as they stick to tv. I agree about Jamie Oliver though,he seems to be the only one trying to use his position to better the world, don`t forget he set up a restaurant run by 15 homeless youngsters which has been a great success.

Unless you've eaten there! The guy's meant to be a cook, not a preacher!!

Sorry caller.
I wish to take issue here.
I grew up eating good wholesome food.
Chickens were localy bred and we had one on high days and holidays.
My apples had the occasional maggot in it.
Worser when there was only 1/2 a maqggot.
The world changed and after the 2nd world war In the UK farmers were told to grow more to sustain us. Hedgrows were ripped out and mass arable farming was advocateded.
DDT was sprayed liberaly.
Has thaty really helped us.
It's cheaer to buy a bucket of chicken in KFC than a free range chicken uncooked.
In my youth. A long time ago. I worked in a chicken factory.
Yes a factory.
We have to respect the animals.
They are our bread and butter after all.
I don't wish to sound like a tree hugger.
But look at our kids.
Allergies everywhere.
Why?
Seems to me we got something wrong.
How come i can buy a chicken from Asia cheaper than home grown?
Surely better it flies here alive than i put its carcass on a plane.
This isn't really a rant and i put myself up before the forum to be shot down.
From my observations Thialands animal husbandry needs a lot of change.
However i would be stupid to think i could change it.
I wouldn't try.
I'll step down from my soapbox now.
Over to you good people.
And Caller.
No offence intended.

So we are all agreed?

Floyd is a legend and he'd be the 1st/only one you'd enjoy a drink with?

Lots of hype with these TV chefs :
Gordon Ramsay was exposed by one of the newspapers for having a food factory in a rundown part of London where meals were being pre-prepared in bulk and boxed up for delivery via the back door to the expensive restaurants he owns in London.
Jamie Oliver made it his mission to get involved with improving school meals but now the numbers of kids eating them has dropped considerably,
they much prefer their local chippie.
Should bring back repeats of Johnny and Fanny Craddock TV shows or even Delia Smith :)
