Hi all,
I have been down to the badminton club/courts this evening, as promised to get some info. I did struggle a bit as my Thai is really inadequate!

Its quite a decent place with 6 courts, concrete floor, reasonable height, good lighting, positioned between courts. Double bank of seating for spectators, your personal fanclub or to collapse on after a game.

They asked for 150 baht, to register for membership, but not sure how long that is for, 2 photos, and a copy of my passport.

When I left about 6.30pm there were about 50/60 people present, of mixed abilities, playing or waiting for a game. and more still arriving...so its a popular place.

I didn't realise so many people played badminton in HH, I was really enthused by what I saw. Back in the UK badminton many clubs have been struggling for members & the number of teams playing in leagues is in decline.

SPAM & anyone else
19 Rai is down near queens park near to seafront. Down soi 19 to the end road bends round to right large building on right with basketball courts outside. Its a large white building with red writing. You cant miss really.

Although I am the wrong side of fifty, quite a bit rusty, with dodgy knees.... I will be giving it a go....anyone else game?

You can go to 19 rai like this:
turn to the right at the first traffic light on petkasem road after the kings palace (Klai Kangwon Palace), its the traffic light just before the big arch over petkasem road. follow this road all the way down, you will pass the klai kangwon school on the left hand side and the palace gardens are situated on the right hand side, you also will pass the kings fire brigade. this road is a bit zig zagging near the fire department. you will end up on the road along the sea and opposite the Majestic Hotel ( i am not quit sure its the Majestic but its a big hotel/resort/spa, the only one overthere) you will find this big building where you can play badminton 7 days a week from 17:00 till 22:00 hrs.

Hi everyone,
Well I went to the badminton club, last night (wednesday)
I paid, as said previously my 150 baht membership fee for 1 month & 10 baht to play for the evening.

I had a brief knock up then played games. The feather shuttles were provided. There were at least 50 or so players at approx 7pm, on a very wet evening. I think that is admirable when most people would have arrived by motorcycle.

I got whooped, (no shock there then!).... but steadily improved as the evening went on.... well I did say that I was rusty....and that's the truth!!!
I am a stiff as board today, and boy did I need my massage.

I will be paying another visit to the badminton club soon, am I glutton for punishment?

Will make my way down there next week as off for a long weekend break.

Funny I'm sure the local mag said 100 baht a month or 1000 for the year.
