actually, whilst I do watch mainly History/Nat Geo and Discovery on True, I download most of my TV from various online sources, so I get to choose what I watch.....Im cheating.

I'm not anti-American but most people I have ever come into contact with mock America and are thankful they were not born there. That said I don't rate Britain much these last 10 years or so hence I don't live there.
They (Fox) are interested in bringing the truth about American politics and other stories to Americans
Minimal level of intelligence is needed to see through the tripe they spew out.

I wonder how many have been? Interestingly, the new president recently echoed HHF's point about criticising/mocking them.

America is going down the tubes fast, and it is primarily due to extreme left wing liberals like most of the current congress and NBC, CBS, ABC, CNN and all the other left wing media there. FOX is the only news channel that gives you a look at what the left is doing to ruin the country (or, in other words, turn it into an England or a European country).
I got upset once at Khun Richard of Yorkshire when he said the end of America was coming soon, but now I think he was a Prophet... with what the current Democratic congress and Obama is doing, it's only a matter of time before the country fails.
My only hope is that the populace realize how fast the current administration is sending us down the socialistic tubes that in the next election they will come to their senses and vote back in any other party (even communists would be better than this one!).
America is doomed if the Democrats, politically correct organizations, and the social welfare organizations get their way.
I realize that out of years of jealousy, this will make most of you non Americans happy, but be careful what you wish for. Because of the media bias (except for FOX), I don't think the rest of you realize how much good the U.S. does for the rest of the world or how much of U.S. taxpayer's money goes to help people outside the country.
hh. It doesn't matter whether you have fascism or communism, both are systems of repression and control by the few at the top. America is already a socialist country. The amount of 'welfare' the corporations and Military receives, makes that very clear. The FED are happy to have a social safety net since the government have to pay for it somehow and the bankster gangsters make more interest. It also keeps the population quiet. Shut up and line up for the soup kitchen or we'll cut your welfare cheques. (At least that's one interpretation).
Stop with the jealousy thing. People aren't complaining because they are jealous of America (as the media coach you to believe). They just wish you would stop blowing people up and grasping your ankles for Israel. I was married to an American for 14 years and could have had a good life in Florida, earning 3x what I earned in the UK. Instead we opted for the UK where materialism wasn't so in your face and you don't have to send your kids to school in an armoured car. Now unfortunately, they are as bad as each other.
Of course FOX News is interested in me. That's why it's piped internationally, along with begging televangelists.

I dont know how anybody watches it as a serious source of information.
It's the sort of thing we'd make in the UK as a parody.

Rupert Murdoch quotes
"You've got to look for a gap, where competitors in a market have grown lazy and lost contact with the readers or the viewers".
"News Corporation, today, reaches people at home and at work... when they're thinking... when they're laughing... and when they are making choices that have enormous impact. The unique potential.. and duty.. of a media company are to help its audiences connect to the issues that define our time."
It would help if News Corp companies inc Fox news told the truth and did not limit it's coverage of news events to 30 second of drivel on serious subjects.
But what can you expect from a company that calls the Sun a newspaper.
I've lost my mind and I am making no effort to find it.
What about Radio? I like Radio 4 here in London or over internet in Thailand if your connection is fast enough.
Travelling and living in other locations I always found the World service to be both useful and enjoyable.
I just find Radio so much less intrusive, it doesn't confine you to the sofa and the less visual experience uses the mind / imagination in different ways.
Yes. I used to enjoy 'Johnners' and Alastair Cook's 'Letter From America' in particular but since they have departed I haven't found anyone worth listening to. The Today programme was okay but the presenters got so combative it was ruining it for me.
Might have another look. Thanks for the suggestion.
'Look' at the Radio 4 web site to see what's playing.
Actually there was a British interviewer called Robin Day, who was also a terrier. He became known in British broadcasting as "the Grand Inquisitor" for his abrasive interviewing. Unfortunately everyone else decided to try and follow his style and that's when politicians adjusted their response. Firstly, they decided beforehand on what line they were going to take... and it didn't matter what question was asked, they would twist it to give their pre-rehearsed party political broadcasts. Secondly, they mastered the art of talking for 40 minutes without drawing breath. So while everyone admired Mr Day for being 'tough', he created a situation where politicians didn't feel as if they could be open and honest.
The end result of this was interviews that were pointless. The interviewer was still being tough but any insights we used to get, dried up.

It was a bit before my time, Mr P, and probably yours, but what were these pre-Robin Day insights?
