Lovely jubbly :D
I watched it last evening. One thing, the weather was pristine. It was an enjoyable and exciting match to me regardless of result. Seemed very evenly matched. Pete

The 1st half was woeful!

I thought Chelsea were the main team in the 1st 2/3 of the 2nd half, but without really looking like scoring, whereas Spurs are dangerous on the break, but that changed when we threw caution to the wind, played with 3 at the back and took Essian off. There just seemed too many changes to players and positions that it gave all the initiative to Spurs and they probably should have won it in the last period.

I'm okay with Di Matteo, I just thought today, he didn't quite get it right in our approach, but we had a big game in midweek and an early KO today didn't help, not forgetting having half a mind on Tuesdays CL game.

Still a long way to go....

I believe Queen Kenny told the press that the poor run of results were down to his team being "tired".....perhaps they should go to bed earlier :neener:

Wigan needed the points. Liverpool didn't. They are neighbours.

Interesting post on the IKTS thread from Caller, one of the handful of semi-literate Chelsea fans :neener:
But you have to give Fergie credit, his team aren't that good, so much so, that he brought Scholes out of retirement, yet it still appears he may fend off City?

Its now apparant that this is the weakest premiership in many a long year and I think Manc fans may be surprised at who gets off-loaded next season, as if they're going to compete in europe, major surgery is needed (same for Chelsea).

On saying that, all you can do is be the best of the bunch in the premiership, but europe tells us the true story.

Another question for next season is will Spurs and Liverpool be able to step up to the plate?
Have to agree with pretty much everything there, which makes it all the more disappointing that Spurs have dropped out of the race.

Man C are not the overpowering force they threatened to be at the start of the season.

Man U are definitely not a shadow of the side they have been in recent years, but they have still been getting results in the Premiership and must now be favourites to take the title.

Arsenal (he said through gritted teeth) have also made an excellent comeback after an awful start, and have recently won games consistently without always playing well. ( :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: )

Chelsea have a bit of work to do, though nothing like as much as Liverpool. Sticking with a manager for two consecutive seasons might be a start for Chelsea...

Spurs haven't stopped playing, but I said earlier in the season that we're not converting nearly enough of our attacking play into goals and are always likely to concede one or two, and that is proving to be the problem. It's no use having 70% possession, 25 shots on goal and a dozen corners if you only score once and finish with a draw. Adebayor has been good, but inconsistent and anyway, he's on loan. Defoe seems to have lost the confidence of his manager, though I'm not entirely sure why - he even seems to be below Saha in the pecking order. Van der Vaart has been a breath of fresh air, but may have shot his bolt. We need a van Persie.

I don't think this is a one-off season, though it is crucial that we finish at least fourth. we need to be consistent enough to attract top players and to keep players like Modric and Bale who make a name for themselves after they've joined the club (viz Barbietoff a few years ago, how nice to see him playing second fiddle all the time).

They were never really serious contenders (imho), though i'm not surprised they've challenged for a top 4 place.
Think they'll do it too, may even sneak 3rd :(
Man C are not the overpowering force they threatened to be at the start of the season.
Seemed to have hit the buffers slightly.
Maybe the pressure is getting to them, or it's the internal wrangling taking it's toll. :|

They weren't that good last year either, but they consistently grind out results :cuss:

:D :D :D
Now we have all our big hitters back, we look a half decent side.
Chelsea have a bit of work to do, though nothing like as much as Liverpool. Sticking with a manager for two consecutive seasons might be a start for Chelsea...
Current league positions must be a big worry for both clubs.

Chelsk still have an outside chance of the top 4, though with the CL & FA cup as distractions, i don't think they'll make it.
Think they needed the 3pts yesterday.

Liverpool, shocking season, but could end up double cup winners

Yes I know, Harry had that type of agreement with Arsene Wengie a month ago

I don't read the papers, watch any football for the weekend or reply to morons on forums after a result like that.

And I agree, Kenny was talking shite about being tired, he's keeping it in house and taking the brunt for the players, the way it should be.

We've played great Football more often than not this season, controlled and outplayed alot of teams we've lost too but 5 home wins is shocking.

I'm not a kick the Manager guy and neither is LFC (unless they are the truly dire Hodgson) but we've got an important summer coming up, LFC was nearly in administration 15 months ago whereas all the other top sides were quite steady.

We can compete with your Spuds, Chelseas and Arsenals. All have been complete and utter shite for huge spells and United really aren't great.

Anyway, I'm still hoping for a domestic double even though our league form is not acceptable.

I'm all for banter Sateeb but have a bit of respect for a man who has won more trophies than your club, including 7 league titles and THREE European cups. That's as many European cups as Manchester United.

I no longer count myself as an avid football supporter, but back in the 70's and 80's I was a true admirer of LFC. Shanks was a bit before my time although his record of achievements is well documented, but the likes of Bob Paisley and Joe Fagsn stand out as great and succesful managers. In his first spell, Dalglish was fairly successful too, but I don't see that he is doing as well this time around - although of course it is still relatively early days.

Football today is not what it was 30+ years ago, but the Liverpool teams of old were full of great players. I recall the likes of Dalglish himself, Rush, Heighway, Souness, Keegan, Hansen, Lawrenson, Tommy Smith, Emlyn Hughes, Jimmy Case, Phil Thompson, John Barnes, Ray Clemence and the list goes on and on.

Steven Gerrard aside, there isn't anybody else that I would rate as an outstanding player in the current team. Not that this relates only to Liverpool, with few exceptions, it's the same for virtually all of the Premier League players - the quality simply isn't there these days. Although the game is very different than it was back in the 70's and 80's, in my opinion, it is nowhere near as enjoyable to watch.
