Re: Vicious Thai gangs at Songkran
"THE PRIME minister and his deputy have instructed the police chief to ensure that those accused of the savage attack on the family of British tourists in Hua Hin face strict legal action.
Deputy police spokesman Pol Colonel Krissana Pattanacharoen yesterday said police should investigate whether anyone other than the four suspects already in custody were involved.
PM Prayut Chan-o-cha and his deputy Prawit Wongsuwan ordered the police to strictly follow up on the case and ensure the attackers face tough legal action.
A group of suspects violently attacked a British family of three, which left them seriously wounded, in the early hours of April 13. Police have arrested four Thai men in connection with the attack."

Re: Vicious Thai gangs at Songkran
Good. The only real purpose for a reenactment I'm aware of is to jog the memories of potential witnesses. In Thailand its only purpose appears to be a photo op for the police.Police yesterday cancelled a re-enactment after learning that some angry people were waiting for the suspects.
With a clear video of every move made, reconstructing the event would be a complete waste of time.
This is the way

If they are from influential local families, and they are counting on that to save their asses, I think they might just be in for a bit of a surprise now that the General has spoken. He might not be the best guy around, but I really don't think he's afraid of rich mommies and daddies in Hua-Hin.
If one of those youngsters were my son, they would have ended up in hospital as well.

Intentionally broken links would look like text, there would be no photos. e.g. convert domain.com into domain dot com.Big Boy wrote:I wouldn't as the photos could be distressing to family members

Semantics but I think they've taken most of the quotes from this forum where the story broke on the 13th.
At least this paper actually links back to where they've lifted content from: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2016/04 ... er-to-ret/

But you went further than 'unsubstantiated' to the point of inferring it as a complete lie!Homer wrote:Hmmm... If so many people were in the Bintabaht area at that time, how come there aren't more first hand reports? Wouldn't this be all over facebook? With videos?usual suspect wrote: Small groups were scatterred at various places..all with the intention of attacking Tourists.
Re: Vicious Thai gangs at Songkran
The use of infer to mean imply is becoming more and more common in both speech and writing. There is nevertheless a useful distinction between the two which many people would be in favour of maintaining. To infer means 'to deduce', and is used in the construction to infer something from something: I inferred from what she said that she had not been well.HHTel wrote: But you went further than 'unsubstantiated' to the point of inferring it as a complete lie!

US was just trying to tell this very important story that has now come to the attention of the PM.
And with international press reading this thread.

You're absolutely correct. I should have used the word imply. Nevertheless, you know exactly what I meant.Homer wrote:The use of infer to mean imply is becoming more and more common in both speech and writing. Unfortunately this same scene happens all over the world, the UK used to be terrible for such incidents, I have no idea what it is like there now.
We can only hope that these thugs get long hard labour but I doubt it. In the UK they would get off with a warning if it was their first offence.
