We watched Scary or Die last night. My son told me to download it because it rated in the all time top 25 scary movies.

Acting was non-existent. Nothing scary. There were 5 short stories, and we could see no link. The movie was just awful.

My advice is don't waste your time downloading this.

Well, I watched this last night. There are some good one-liners, but on the whole I'd give it a "quite amusing" rating.
Obviously best watched when stoned!

EDIT: Don't be fooled into letting your kids watch it!

Think it's one of those you have to be in the correct mood for..... being stoned would certainly qualify DM!!

Personally, I watched it sober, after not a great day..... and well - simply didn't enjoy it. Shall take it with me to HH over the festive season and shall watch when the LHG has kicked me out of the bedroom after I've enjoyed too much of the Sang Som with my influential neighbour!!

END OF WATCH

like cop dramas and one of my favorites from the 80s was the Sean Penn flick COLORS. The best way to describe END OF WATCH is its a "Colors for 2012".

Jake Gyllenhaal and Michael Peña play two young and ambitious cops whose beat is the war zone of South Central LA. But this is a different LA to the 80s, when it was Bloods vs Crips. Now the Mexican drug cartels have moved into town and unfortunately for our two heros their run of the mill routine work takes them slam bang head on into the drug and crime operations of the Mexicans. As a result they become marked men with a price on their heads, and there are a thousand Latino gang bangers wanting to make a name for themselves.

Its filmed in a semi-documentary style, and uses a variety of camera styles from normal to first person "gun cam". Normally that means it looks like a mess but here it really works, and serves to make firefghts and chases all the more visceral. Its well acted, wonderfully scripted, and builds tension to the inevitable end blat fest, which even though you know is always coming, still retains the shock and awe value that makes the whole flick a success.

A definite recommended watch, and a solid three cheers keeper all the way. If you like gritty cop dramas this is your watch of the week.

Out and about in DVDRIP formats....or you could always swing by and watch it online if you are quick.

SAFE

Prett much your standard Jason Stratham action flick, but well worth a watch as its a full on Transporter 1 adrenaline ride and a lot of fun.

Mei is a 12 year old Chinese lass who has a photographic memory and a brain for numbers. The Triads kidnap her and use her as a walking account book in New York. Luke is a washed up cage fighter who used to be a cop till he dobbed in his corrupt colleagues, and now as he failed to take a dive is a hunted man by the Russian Mafia. When the Russians kidnap Mei she escapes, and Luke is there to save the day....except now Mei is being hunted by the Triads, The Russians and the same corrupt police unit. And Luke? Well, he isnt what he seems and has a much more interesting past than a blue uniform.

Shades of Leon.....

Its good full on adrenaline chase and beat em up shoot em down stuff with a twisty plot thrown in, and well worth a watch. Switch the brain off, the popcorn on, put your feet up and dive on in.

Out and about in DVDRIPs all over the place. Three cheers and a keeper, even if it is a bit of a box of generic Viagra.

LOOPER

In 2077 time travel is invented, and because of its obvious dangers is immediately outlawed. Unfortunately that doesnt stop the crime syndicates gettng hold of the tech, and they use it to get rid of people by sending them back in time to a waiting specialist assassin called a Looper. The price for the hit is silver bars strapped to the target, and theres one more price to pay....eventually the future self of the assassin is sent back and wiped out by himself in the past. And if a looper fails to do a hit...well then all hell breaks loose. Unfortunately for Joe, thats just what happens, as his future self comes back pre prepared for the past he has already lived.

This is a pretty mind bending sci fi flick, with INCEPTION levels of required concentration to keep track of. No bubblegum and popcorn here folks. But its a bloody excellent film, and combines brain bending plot with kinetic action and a lovely grubby dystopian look of a future gone well off the rails.
Top entertanment for both the eyes and the brain.

Now for the party pooper.

See if you can work out why the end scene doesnt work, and sets up a whole causation paradox loop of its own that makes the last third of the film make no sense. There was the logical way to end the film, but Im sure Hollydud suits just didnt have the stones to make it that way. And thats a shame, as that is for me what makes this a second fiddle to INCEPTION as opposed to the joint 1st place medalist it should be. There are some wonderful touches, but the end just had me going....errr but if that happens then.......

stll an excellent watch, and out and about all over the place in watchable formats.

Oh Chris Nolan I want to have thy babies....

THE DARK KNIGHT RISES

When it comes to the Batman franchise Nolan has taken the stale and increasingly crappy and dumb series and shot it full of dark testosterone flavoured hyper crack. His Dark Knight trilogy has been a masterpiece of epic tale telling, but all good things come to a close, and here is the last of the three. And boy does it go out with a bang....a Big Bang .... a whole auditorium full of sweaty heaving ensemble cast gang bang in fact. What Craig has done for Bond, the two Chris' (Nolan and Bale) have done for Batman...turned a once great but now campy sadsack franchise into a bath salts snorting serial killer set loose in a McDonalds with a mini-gun.

It is 8 years since the death of Harvey "Two Face" Dent, and Comissioner Gordon has had to maintain the lie that Batman was the bad guy who killed him. Bruce Wayne, crippled during his escape, has become a recluse, and in his absence Wayne Enterprises has fallen into mismanagement and potental takeover by a shady shark. And out of the badlands comes a new threat.... the dog mask faced psychopathic mercenary Bane and his army of brainwashed killers. Bane has plans for Gotham....he is the last of the Shadow League, and he is dead set on completing the mission of Raz Al Gul....destroy Gotham. Meanwhile the city has been the playground for Selena Kyle, foxy cat burgalar extrodinare and femme fatale who plays all sides against the others. Chaos is looming, and its time for the Batman to return once more to save the city that hates him.....

Its a true epic at over 2 1/2 hrs of non stop wonder and explosions, double dealing, stitch ups and plot loops. Wonderfully acted by Bale and Caine, with all the rest of the A listers doing their level best to keep up and making a good race of it. Great plot that moves from fast to slow and back again with every scene, and a thrill a minute last third reel that keeps you guessing till the end. And yes theres a potential outer for sequels....please god let Nolan stay at the directors chair and it doesnt now dive back to the claggy polluted depths of Batman and Robin and all the other increasingly sad and stupid cartoonish dross that came after the first two classic flicks. When you have a turdbucket like Jim Carey playing a bad guy its time to pack it in. The world is watching Chris....dont you drop the ball now son.

Out and about in stupid sized multi gigabyte BDRIPs at the moment, but wait a week and the normal size DVDRIPS wll be all over the shop.

Three cheers and a solid gold keeper all the way from the credits at one end to the credits at the other.

SKYFALL

Not bad, certainly not the best of the new ones IMO

Nice acting from the usual and Albert Finney plus the baddie played a better part than he did in 'No country for old men'

Plot crap too

OK as a download. Wouldn't pay for it

ENJOY

ps

The baddie looks like the vendor who floats round soi 80 and Binta selling trinkets. Nice guy but rather too effeminate for my liking.( Used to work part time in Blue Angel)
