Seriously, this is an international forum conducted mainly in English. Please cut them a little slack guys
It's a test of the theory that no matter how you arrange the letters in a word, as long as they are all present, an English speaker can easily read the word and the sentence. I think it works. Pete
I struggled, but couldn't decipher ufuret . The rest of it was readable - just!

Anyway, we'd better get :offtopic: before Richard tells us off again :D

The topic is a supermarket, Richard. In the scheme of things (9/11, armageddon, the Hua Hin Regatta) it probably doesn't rank that highly. Maybe you shouldn't have bothered to mention it at all.

Hi there y'all

First pf all I wanted to Thank my long time good Friend Chas which I totally agree with his Statement.

Hey Chas next Time when I'm back in Hua Hin lets get a place to Chill and have a Beer together! Tab goes on me!

:offtopic: Well Villa Market @ this Thai Style Strip Mall is reallt an Ideal location for such a store. Now we have (three to four stores) which specialises in INternational Grub (Grub = Youth language for Food or something hot to eat!), WE now have to see which shop offer the most competitive price/Quality for money by not loosing so much Wallet by paying much for the food!

Off topic, but for Prs:

Aoccdrnig to a rscheearch at Cmabrigde Uinervtisy, it deosn't mttaer in waht oredr the ltteers in a wrod are, the olny iprmoetnt tihng is taht the frist and lsat ltteer be at the rghit pclae. The rset can be a toatl mses and you can sitll raed it wouthit porbelm. Tihs is bcuseae the huamn mnid deos not raed ervey lteter by istlef, but the wrod as a wlohe.

Wierd isn't it.

N.B. The written word and the spoken word are different. In spoken English, grammar is unimportant.

Reading proficiency is based on prediction so a good native English reader can indeed work out most of the meaning with 1st and last letters.
Not so easy for those who are not native speakers.

I wouldn't say grammar accuracy is unimportant in speaking but less important for sure, IMO, depending on the situation as there are times when accuracy is v. important (communicating data, hard information, opinions etc).
Accuracy vs. fluency is one of the oldest ongoing discussions in ESL. Personally, I think fluency takes precedence as communicating is most important IMO.
E.g., I've taught a number of people who tested close to 900 TOEIC (almost native level accuracy) but could barely speak a coherent sentence.
Great, an employer hires them on the basis of such a score and they are fcuked the minute they have to deal with a client in English.

Spoken like a true teacher Tel!

BTW Richard, you must have caught on to the UK Gov. policy on fruit. No longer enough just to have your 5 portions of fruit and veg a day. Now they should be different colours as well! So you only need to add an orange and cabbage to your grapefruit, plums and cherries and you've cracked it duck. :duck: [/b]

On the subject of Shopping - I just did my Asda shop online, and note they have put North Lincolnshire into the Virgin Islands.
Diverse - but a nice thought!

I think (and I am not reading the whole thread again) that the tangent went off because Chas quite rightfully criticized someone who took a dig at Understudies written English.

I will happily set up a test of three different languages and see which one of you wins. You can choose any three languages you wish.

Sorry to Richard but sometimes straying off topic is unavoidable.

Hinez bneaz are good for yuor hraet.

The mroe you frat the bteber you feel.

So eat bnaez wtih eervy mael.

The first and last letter do have to be in the crocert poitsoin to make it easy read.

At 148 baht per can I would break wind just looking at the price tag. I can buy 5 kilos of rice at today's inflated prices for that and keep the bedroom fresher.
