Books are cheaper than buying locally.
Over 2000 ebooks (novels and reference works) and stacks of audio files, radio plays, audio books etc stored on my Sony memory card.

Not one penny spent.

Look in the right places, mostly bulletin boards/blogs and member forums, and you can find any book you want.

You can start here:

http://bolt.cd/board/forum.php
http://forum.mobilism.org/index.php
http://www.studytemple.com/forum/

all three require registration but its free and easy

http://www.4shared.com - goldmine of free downloads

for older "classics" there is http://www.gutenberg.org/wiki/Main_Page

ebook search engine - http://ebookee.org/

online multi format file conversion from one format to another:

http://www.online-convert.com/
http://www.convertfiles.com/

Not one penny spent.
I know it's an outdated concept but in the same way that I didn't used to go shoplifting in W. H. Smiths, I buy my e-books.

Better late than never, I hope.

A question for users of Kindle Paperwhite, please.
So, I've got all these books on the device and they're all sorted into collections of one type or another.
Is there any way that I can delete a book in the "general" folder without it also disappearing in the "collections" folder?
I'm not strapped for memory. It would just make the filing easier.

There is an e-book thread already. Personally I wouldn't recommend the Kindle after owning one for a year. The iPad mini is the better option.

You won't be able to buy locally. You can buy through BKK but pang.
If you can afford the iPad mini then I recommend that as a superior alternative.

I was lucky enough to buy a 2nd hand Kindle locally for 2k baht, and, as someone who reads a lot, it's one of the best purchases I've ever made.
Mrs D-M has a mini iPad that she has grown to worship and adore (much to my chagrin... that used to be me! ), but she/I/we haven't tried using it as an e-reader.

I suppose if you're a gadget-minded person who likes to use the iPad here, there and everywhere for all sorts of things, then using it as an e-reader probably makes sense. I'm not (yet), so I've no reason to consider changing.
This is the way

As (I think) I have stated earlier, I'm quite happy with my Ipad-mini, you can download Kindle books with it as well but are not limited to only Kindle books. Recently Google have brought Nexus 7 to the market and it has received some good reviews. I have no personal experience of this, though but it is said to be sharper and cheaper than Ipad.

Is there any way to transfer books from one Kindle Paperwhite to another? Ie, any sort of lead etc.
Maybe it's possible to put the books onto a disk that the other person can then get on his hard drive and transfer to Kindle from there?
Any suggestions welcome.

Plug them both into your computer via USB and just copy them over from one to the other.
