His chirpiness had probably gone because he wasn't getting freebies everywhere when he announced he was from Lonely Planet...sandman67 wrote:Y gotta love the N Korean sense of irony.... The D in DPRK is for Democratic..... errr...........
there must be some good things to see there but I remember seeing an episode of Lonely Planet where they sent the little chirpy bloke there....after a week all his chirpiness was gone and he said it wasnt on his list of places to go back to.
Y probably wouldnt want to use the same passport to go to the USA afterwards either

nah mate....cmon play fair....he was a cool bloke.
I do remember the program....one of the trips was to N Koreas biggest concrete plants
Some of the mad communist architecture was spectacular, and I know theres some cool historical stuff there from the Joson era.
It did look pretty grim tho...
wouldnt be on my list either.....
worst places Ive been are Haiti, Columbia, Zimbabwe and Azerbaijan .... definitely not ones Im going back to.
Favorites are Cambodia and Egypt..... Im a temple nut.
Favorite city..... St Petersburg or Florence ...least favorite would be Johannesburg with Cairo a close second
Armenia was cool too but getting pickpocketed 3 times for loose change put me off going back. Pickpocketing and football are Armenian kids favorite hobbies.

as it will be impossible to get anyone from UN to adjudicate on your claim, think it is probably best to award yourself 33 countries,by right of conquest on April 22nd The 2 islands, west and east were incorporated into Argentina, however General Menendes signed an unconditional surrender at a date that must have been in August and the Falkland Islanders were once again rightly free to determine which direction they chose to go.However should you ever wish to visit the real Argentina I will be most happy to buy you your first beer in Salta Argentina. On a point of grammar
Argentine is an adjective,ie argentine beef or argentine wine.Argentina is the country. It is my intention to visit the islands but there is only one flight a week from Puntas Arenas in Chile and i only really want a 3 day walkabout and visit to the cemetery,2 Para especially as it is my old formation but Argentine and british graves as well.

One of my early haunts also. The whole area is one of those that went up market during the recent housing boom. A sort of Notting Hill that people could afford. With the Kensington Hilton marking a very definite exit from Shepherd's Bush and the most expensive area in London, Holland Park, just to the south, Ladbroke Grove suddenly changed into a well sought after area. The Station became key to the success being on a line that goes though the West end and the City.Digger wrote:caducus wrote:I have been to (not in alphabetical or chronological order)

Does this tube station still exist,I went out with a girl who lived in that area in late 60's and we always drank in the ladbroke arms
BTW in the sixties it was a real hippy joint. Free love, Thai sticks and all that stuff, (apparently).

Sarge, Digger is right... if it was thought to be part of one country when you went in and another when you came out, it counts as both... congratulations on taking a part in changing the globe!HH thanks for this afternoon a good deed and much appreciated
