Thai Travelling to Egypt
Hello guys, forgive me if in wrong place. Myself and my wife are planning on a weekend trip to Cairo in November and I'm trying to find out on visa requirements for Thais. I have tried to contact Egyptian embassy in Riyadh, we are located in Saudi, but not getting an answer. Has anyone travelled there recently with a Thai national who can provide some good information? By the way we will be in Bangkok in September so maybe can get a visa then.

Your wife obviously has residency to live in Saudi, so in theory getting an Egyptian visa should be possible, but you might find it easier to apply in Thailand assuming getting to-from Bangkok isn’t an issue?

Thanks for the reply Dannie Boy, I think it will indeed be easier in Bangkok as we are 4 hours drive from Riyadh.

Thai nationals can get a visa on arrival in Egypt, but it's best to get it sorted in advance. Since you'll be in Bangkok in September, visit the Egyptian embassy there. We did this last year, and it saved a lot of hassle. Enjoy Cairo!
Re: Thai Travelling to Egypt
Documentation available on line indicates that the above is bad information. Thai nationals cannot obtain a "Visa on arrival" in Egypt.CosmicCatalyst wrote: ↑Wed Jun 26, 2024 8:16 am Thai nationals can get a visa on arrival in Egypt, but it's best to get it sorted in advance. Thanks guys. From what I have seen on YouTube, which tends to be more of an accurate account by way of travellers experiences than most online, it is advertised that anyway can obtain an e'visa on arrival, but this is said to be a scam? I will email the embassy in Bangkok and arrange to get from there. GN.
Re: Thai Travelling to Egypt
Slightly off topic as not Cairo, but Sharm el Sheik and Hurghada airports have visa on arrival desks.
British passengers are automatically granted visa on arrival at these Red Sea resort airports but there are normally “officials” awaiting your arrival and ushering you towards “ visa windows” where you can “purchase” a visa on arrival for £10 Sterling.
This is the scam. Ignore these officials and just make your way to the exits.
Cairo airport will probably have different arrangements.
