Re: Buying online from Lazada

Post by HHTel »

Viewing all the complaints against the Lazada platform prompts me to say just how lucky I've been. I know that bad publicity outweighs good, mainly because happy customers don't report their experiences.

However, I will. I've been ordering from Lazada for a few years now. In that time I've only needed to call for one refund. It was actually my fault as I didn't look at the size (rice cooker). Returned it with the reason "Ordered wrongly" and the return and refund was prompt.

I can't recall any other complaints. I've ordered everything from a small adapter for my jet spray to an 86" TV (which was delivered, installed and checked.)
I've ordered 5 items this month. 4 of them were delivered in under 48 hours. The 5th took 18 days (delivered today) but that was from China.

I repeat. Maybe I'm just extremely lucky but I can't believe I'm the only one.

I'll certainly carry on using them.

One more thing. Before I order anything, I look at the rating for the seller. I expect Seller rating, Delivery on time, Chat response to be not very short of 100%. Anything below 90% and I'll not order.

Also been very lucky = satisfied with 99 % of my orders, from LAZ, Shopee, Banggood, AliExpress, Central, HomePro even E-bay.

Just the 2 or 3 refunds, just recently, really had to fight for them, and if not doing the vid, photo opening and documenting every little detail, the vendors would have not 'been forced' to refund.

I'm sticking with 'flagship' stores and LAZMALL stores, as no questions asked, and longer return policy. Only had issues with vendors, I had 2nd thoughts about when ordering, and the savings wasn't worth the hassle for the refund.

I tried to order from Shoppee and they made it so complicated that I gave up.

When I tried to check out a map popped up with my address pinned on it. The location was nowhere near where I lived and I couldn't change it or leave the map, so I gave up.

I was looking for a printer and found one at Banana for the same price as at Lazada.

As above, another lesson to learn. Online is not always cheaper. Don't always go for the first seller on Lazada. I've found that multiple sellers can offer the same product but with wide variations in price.

I agree 100%. If I need something from Shopee, I have to get a Thai to do it. I find their logic impossible to follow.

I've ordered from Shopee several times from my desktop and it's been fine. I ordered twice via smartphone and it never arrived but I got the refund. Apparently they can't find the address then.

I find the Shopee search and select function fine. The fight starts when it comes to payment - I'll never get to grips with Thailand's need for worthless information/paper, and won't play those games. It's not that I can't do it, I won't be dictated to by a computer needlessly.

I run a mosquito trap, called a “Black Hole” in my bedroom at night on a timer so it comes on a couple hours before bedtime, is off so as to not disturb me when I go to bed, then comes on for a few hours while I sleep. This works well and I’m almost never bothered by mosquitoes, unless the Black Hole malfunctions, as it has done a few times over the past 9 years. Recently the 2 small florescent light tubes burned out. My options were to pay 540 baht at Homepro for 2 replacement tubes, or shop Lazada. On Lazada I found a pack of 4 replacement bulbs, genuine Black Hole tubes, for 248 baht including shipping (210 bt for the tubes, 38 baht shipping). They arrived after 3 days and all is working well again. Over the years I’ve also bought replacement electric motors and plastic fans for the Black Hole, always at prices I was very pleased with and well below the cost of replacing the entire unit.

Not really had a problem with either Lazada or Shoppee, sometimes that's the only place you can source what you're looking for. There are, however, dodgy sellers - I was looking for a car filter/ gasket combo as I needed the filter more. Clicked on the product and placed the order. Fine. Then confirmation comes "option 3, gasket only". I was annoyed and went back to see if anything was missed, nope. No option. No response from seller, so I cancelled the order. Eventually for a refund. However, that refund goes into the Lazada wallet, and you need to activate it before you can use it. Well, I just tried to activate it, the want your mobile phone number (fine), a scan of your passport (sorry, Lazada, for a measly 300 baht you're not getting any of my sensitive info), plus they want you to take a selfie.
No more refunds. They can keep the 300 baht, I'll just be more careful in the future.

VincentD, obviously it's your choice. Whilst it's a pain in the butt, and seems OTT, I've done it several times and it works very well.

They may not be permitted to ask for a passport copy or a selfie under the new PDPA laws?

Lazada, Shopee, JD Central rack up losses to gain users

https://www.bangkokpost.com/business/23 ... gain-users

Marred by intense competition and several promotional campaigns, the three major e-commerce operators in Thailand have racked up a combined 39 billion baht in operational losses over the past seven years, according to Creden Data, a data analytics service provider.

The trio are Lazada, the Southeast Asia e-commerce arm of China's Alibaba; Shopee, the e-commerce arm of Singapore-headquartered internet firm Sea; and JD Central, an e-commerce joint venture between Central Group and Chinese internet giant JD.com.

The three operators booked combined revenue of 85 billion baht from 2015 to 2021.

In 2021, Lazada was the biggest earner among the trio with revenue of 14.6 billion baht, up from 10 billion a year before. It bounced back into the black with a profit of 226 million baht, compared with a loss of 3.9 billion baht in 2020.

Shopee extended its loss to 4.9 billion baht in 2021, continuing from the loss of 4.1 billion a year before. The same is true for JD Central, which saw a loss of 1.93 billion baht in 2021, extending from the loss of 1.3 billion a year earlier.

Pawoot Pongvitayapanu, chief executive of Creden Co, the operator of Creden Data, said the top three e-marketplace players have been burning money in order to gain users, resulting in losses of nearly 40 billion baht over the past seven years.

From 2015 to 2021, Shopee saw the biggest losses among the trio at 20 billion baht, followed by Lazada with a loss of 13 billion and JD Central with a loss of 5.5 billion. JD Central started operations in 2017.

During the period, Lazada was the biggest earner with 51 billion baht in revenue, followed by Shopee with revenue of 21 billion and JD Central with 12 billion.

"To operate an e-commerce business, you need a strong capital reserve and you must be patient as this is a long-term competition," said Mr Pawoot.

Suthikorn Kingkaew, the advisor of Kasem Bundit University Research Institute, said Lazada gained an advantage as a first mover in the market once Alibaba acquired Lazada from Rocket Internet in 2016. Last year, Lazada succeeded in reporting a profit.

Shopee is expanding services, making it more like a super app to stimulate customers to increase usage and receive more discounts and points, which drives up their stickiness to the platform, said Mr Suthikorn.

In response to rumours that Central Group is planning to leave JD Central, Wisan Sirikul, human resources and corporate marketing director of JD Central said that statement is incorrect as both parties continue to run projects together through the third quarter.

Yes, it also does so with Edge, but after a couple of seconds it switches to USD฿29.99
(AU฿39.99-10%)

It also says: Product details of rickshaws, high-rise rickshaws Rickshaws put on the market pay. Rickshaws are used to transport homebuyers.
