What is considered the best way to pay for a new car (in Thailand) Cash or down payment and thereafter monthly payments? I can get a Thai to guarantee but hesitate to set my self up with debt which totally also make the car more expensive at the same time most people say they get less discount and service if choose cash payment! What is your experience?

It’s almost impossible to get a discount on a car purchased here in Thailand, irrespective of cash or loan - the best you can hope for are some free services and a years “free” insurance. Interest rates will vary by car manufacturer, so if you have the disposable cash, that’s what I would recommend!!Hahuahin wrote: ↑Mon Mar 28, 2022 10:05 am What is considered the best way to pay for a new car (in Thailand) Cash or down payment and thereafter monthly payments? Interest rates are huge here. And be careful to go with a "Thai guarantee" : sometimes, it something that goes back with many problems if you have any issues with your payments.

Why would the payment type make any difference to the service or warranty? Dealers do not finance cars themselves, in fact I would imagine most, if not all, have a "floor plan" provided by a leasing company, or a Bank. They do not "own" any of their stock.Hahuahin wrote: ↑Mon Mar 28, 2022 10:05 am What is considered the best way to pay for a new car (in Thailand) Cash or down payment and thereafter monthly payments? They MAY get a small commission from a finance company if they write a hire purchase sale, but their profit margin comes from the manufacturers dealers discount. Warranty work is also usually charged back to the manufacturer, albeit at a very small margin.

I was thinking "service" as in customer service not service on the car or warranty.Nereus wrote: ↑Mon Mar 28, 2022 1:00 pmWhy would the payment type make any difference to the service or warranty?
