Perhaps a swig of bleach might do the trick?
No doubt even the sceptics are hoping that Omicron will turn out to be less dangerous that the Alpha and Delta strains, but at this early stage, only a fool would assume that’s going to be the outcome, so all necessary precautions should be taken until they know one way or another.

It’s 2 weeks into Omicron and Alec Baldwin has still killed more people.
Have you looked at what happened after the first outbreak and first recorded deaths - before making stupid claims you’d better hope that Omicron doesn’t follow a similar or worse pattern!!

And what do you think we should do about it. It's inevitable you will encounter this variant soon. Fortunately, all the data so far shows it is a much milder version.
Over 400 Studies on the Failure of Compulsory COVID Interventions. 0 in support.
Dr Angelique Coetzee: After 4 weeks it's a mild disease...whether you are a child, 80 years of age, vaccinated or unvaccinated, other comorbidities. Dangerous cytokine storm is not happening with this variant.
A scene from George Orwell's 1984 where Big Brother gives an update on the war of Oceana against Eastasia.
I’m more than happy for you Nil to continue to deny there’s a potentially big problem just around the corner, but until there’s conclusive evidence that Omicron isn’t the big threat that (many) are suggesting, I’ll remain cautious until evidence says otherwise, even though I’m very much hoping your optimism is proved correct.
A reasoned analysis here from John Campbell. I would guess most people living here get enough vitamin D if you spend time outside. The daily amount of Zinc you can get from any decent multivitamin.
An interview with the covid advisor to the South African government does say that although the transmission is very high, the signs to date are good. However, he also points out that it's still very early days and should be viewed in the same way as Delta until more data emerges, probably in the next couple of weeks. South Africa being the epicentre and the source of all the relevant data, this is where we should measure the yardstick.
THAILAND Public Health Ministry reports a total of 8 confirmed Omicron cases in Thailand
Thailand has recorded eight Omicron cases since the country reported the first Omicron infection on December 1. While it’s not a lot, the emergence of the variant has led the Thai government to tighten travel restrictions and disease control measures for entry to prevent Omicron from being imported into the country.
According to the Public Health Ministry, all Omicron cases that have been reported have been imported into the kingdom, with three samples pending confirmation today. Some entered under the Test & Go quarantine exemption scheme or “sandbox” scheme, which are both entry options for vaccinated visitors, and test positive for Covid upon arrival.
No hybrid variants have been found in Thailand, according to the director-general of the Department of Medical Sciences, Dr Suppakit Sirilak. He added that the spread of the Delta variant, which is the dominant strain in Thailand, has slowed down in Bangkok.
Others who tested positive for the Omicron variant include :
A 40 year old American man who arrived in Bangkok from South Korea.
A 35 year old American man who travelled from Spain and entered Thailand under the Test & Go scheme.
A 51 year old Belarusian tourist who travelled from the United Arab Emirates to Bangkok under the Test & Go programme also tested positive.
A 51 year old British man who travelled from the UK and entered Chon Buri under the Test & Go and another Thai man.
A 37 year old Thai man who tested positive at an ASQ facility.
Two Thai women, ages 46 and 36, who tested positive in an ASQ facility after arriving to Thailand from Nigeria.
A 39 year old Thai man who travelled from Nigeria and entered Bangkok under the “sandbox” scheme.
Those three cases that are still pending are tourists from the UK, Nigeria, and Congo, two of whom arrived in Thailand under the Bangkok sandbox scheme and one under the Test & Go scheme.
I'll be very surprised if it doesn't explode somewhat. 8 confirmed today and if you compare that with other countries, for example the UK had 22 cases at the beginning of the month and as of yesterday they have 3,137.
It's reported that one person in the UK has died with Omicron, the first reported death worldwide. No detail of the death so far.

The only way to stop the international spread of disease is to suspend all travel. Obviously, it's not going to happen but there is no other way.
It’s already too late - the UK is experiencing exponential increases caused largely from within the community, banning international travel would be pointless.

It would stop the spread of the next mutation and there will be the next mutation, and, and, and.

"Man up world" says the one with 3 vaccine shots, whereas a lot of the world hasn't even had one.
