With the entirety of Hua Hin having received at least 1 vaccine (we don't know anybody who hasn't been vaccinated yet, do we? :tsk: ) and over 80% of Hua Hin's population fully vaccinated, the current outbreak of infections has to be a HUGE worry. 435 new cases in the last 8 days is the worst prolonged period the town has seen. Very few of this latest round of infections can be associated with clusters.

To me, it is obvious something is going seriously wrong. Something isn't working on a big scale. It would be very useful if they could provide a vaccine status of victims, together with which vaccines patients have had administered.

Even if they don't make this information public, I hope somebody is compiling it, with a view to taking action.

All of Hua Hin has had at least one jab ... really? Should be the safest town in Thailand.

Who is providing the stats, TAT? :duck:

The numbers are reported daily, here. Surely you aren't suggesting they may be lying :run:

The vaccine doesn't prevent COVID-19, but it's supposed to lessen the symptoms. How serious are the cases currently being found? How many are going into ICU compared to previously?

Not sure about how many new cases are going into ICU but BB posted a graph about a week ago on the main thread that showed deaths from April to October being over 75% unvaccinated.

Agreed, the vaccine doesn't completely stop the virus, but with the efficacy numbers they are bandying about, and with numbers they are claiming to have vaccinated (some of the best figures I've seen), infections should be reducing dramatically. We most certainly shouldn't be experiencing Hua Hin's worst period since Covid began.

Thailand's Vaccine Tracker (Oct. 20, 2021)

About 40.73% of the population is fully vaccinated. 38,611,193 (+474,097) people have received the first dose, while 26,959,785 (+485,263) have been fully inoculated.
.
At this rate, Thailand needs to administer 413,848 doses per day within 73 days to reach the herd immunity target by the year's end.

I think that most infections are now asymptomatic. The link Joelle gives daily includes a line (translated):
asymptomatic/symptomatic per cent 84.12

I know - mathematically it's a rubbish statement.

Also vaccine HH 1 jab, 2 jabs = 100.33%, 84.6%.

Pfizer, BioNTech report high efficacy of Covid-19 booster shot in study

https://www.bangkokpost.com/world/22018 ... t-in-study

BERLIN: Pfizer Inc and German partner BioNTech SE on Thursday said data from a Phase III trial demonstrated high efficacy of a booster dose of their Covid-19 vaccine against the virus, including the Delta variant.

They said a trial of 10,000 participants aged 16 or older showed 95.6% effectiveness against the diseases, during a period when the Delta strain was prevalent.

The study also found that the booster shot had a favourable safety profile.

Pfizer had said its two-shot vaccine's efficacy drops over time, citing a study that showed 84% effectiveness from a peak of 96% four months after a second dose. Some countries had already gone ahead with plans to give booster doses.

The drugmakers said the median time between the second dose and the booster shot or the placebo in the study was around 11 months, adding that there were only five cases of Covid-19 in the booster group, compared with 109 cases in the group which received the placebo shot.

"These results provide further evidence of the benefits of boosters as we aim to keep people well-protected against this disease," Pfizer Chief Executive Officer Albert Bourla said in a statement.

The median age of the participants was 53 years, with 55.5% of participants between 16 and 55 years, and 23.3% at 65 years or older.

The companies said they would submit detailed results of the trial for peer-reviewed publication, to the US Food and Drug Administration, the European Medicines Agency, and other regulatory agencies as soon as possible.

US and EU regulators have already authorised a third dose of Covid-19 vaccines by Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna Inc for patients with compromised immune systems who are likely to have weaker protection from the two-dose regimens.

This doesn't sound right to me. Please note, I accept you are only reading what they are telling us, and it isn't your version of the truth, but it just does not ring true with me (for Tapatalk users, a list follows):
  • General consensus is testing is not happening as a routine measure.
  • Testing is happening in Clusters.
  • Only a small % of recent Hua Hin cases have been cluster related.
  • That just leaves walk-in cases being tested.
This must mean there are a lot of people in Hua Hin waking up each morning over the last 10 days feeling 100% (asymptomatic), and thinking I've got a bit of money to burn, I'll invest a couple of thousand Baht getting a Covid test today.

I actually want to believe that we're being told the truth, but what they say has to make sense. They keep throwing more and more charts at us each day, but they do not add up. They think we're stupid.

Mods please move if not relevant to this thread.

A couple of weeks ago a friend of mine visited my place. We sat outside and had a chat and a couple of beers. She visited the toilet a couple of times and left after about an hour. There was no physical contact at all but I guess I must have removed the empties that she had touched and touched the door handle of the toilet.

A couple of days later she told me that a few days before going to my place she had gone to a girlfriends house where there were about 10 other people who had all mostly tested positive for Covid. She subsequently self tested(antigen test kit) with a positive result but symptoms were very minor(slight fever and cough).

We had both received 1 dose of AZ vaccine in August.

I did 2 ATK tests with a neg. result.

So I'm left wondering either that the AZ vaccine did it's job or I was lucky.
