Euro 2020
Re: Euro 2020
I honestly don't know what you guys are complaining about. Kane is Kane, and he played as well in the last 2 England games as he has played for England for several years. He is there to take the occasional penalty. As you all keep telling me, he's the best we've got. If I can accept it, surely you guys who actually believe in him can.

Re: Euro 2020
Sorry BB but your just trying to wind us up - Kane has played much better in the past, but he’s been way below average these last two games - as I’ve said many times, he may not be an out and out top player, but his record in putting the ball in the back of the net over the past 5 years in the EPL and playing for England, has been as good if not better than anybody else.

What a result for Hungary against the favourites!
I don't trust children. They're here to replace us.
Re: Euro 2020
Portugal getting annihilated.
So much for my prediction of them winning the thing. On paper, at least, they have the best team in the tournament. Being torn apart.

Yes, I know that, I was just wondering in general, as I haven't heard much about him since he returned from Spain.Topspin wrote: ↑Sat Jun 19, 2021 12:09 pmErrrm, not sure what you mean as he is, the last time I looked, a Welshman.handdrummer wrote: ↑Sat Jun 19, 2021 11:33 am "He’s clearly not all bad, but he doesn’t have anywhere near the consistency (or overall ability) of say Ronaldo or Messi."
Does anyone?
P.S. What happened to Gareth Bale?

Re: Euro 2020
There’s been plenty of speculation including - retirement - staying at Tottenham for another year - returning to RM - there’s probably more options, but you or I could no doubt make up a few that have almost as much credibility!!
Re: Euro 2020
I am not trying to wind anybody up. Please tell me an England game in the last 4 years where he has played better, and I will find a copy to download. I may not watch him play much for Spurs very much, where I guess he must put in some decent performances, but I doubt I've missed a game in England colours.Dannie Boy wrote: ↑Sat Jun 19, 2021 9:27 pm Sorry BB but your just trying to wind us up - Kane has played much better in the past, but he’s been way below average these last two games - as I’ve said many times, he may not be an out and out top player, but his record in putting the ball in the back of the net over the past 5 years in the EPL and playing for England, has been as good if not better than anybody else.
I'll be very surprised, outside of penalties if there is a game where has has been on the ball for more than 2 minutes.
Don't worry too much though, I've accepted that he's our best striker, England no longer breeds decent strikers, and like Thailand they are as rare as rocking horse droppings. It makes it a little harder, but it's still coming home

Re: Euro 2020
Every TV pundit review I’ve seen and all of the press reports specifically mention Kane’s last two performances for England being at a much lower level than he has played in more recent times - maybe it’s a case that you’re correct and everybody else is wrong?Big Boy wrote: ↑Sun Jun 20, 2021 11:16 amI am not trying to wind anybody up. Anyway let’s not waste any more of our time discussing this subject and wait and see what happens over the tournament.
Re: Euro 2020
Aside from any of the ones where he scored his 34 goals in 54 games for England, off the top of my head, I'd say give the England v Spain (Nations League) a viewing. If I remember correctly the Spanish press were fawning over him after that. And he didn't score. Enough about Harry now though. We all know he's one of the best in the world on his day. Please tell me an England game in the last 4 years where he has played better, and I will find a copy to download. Looking forward to the Wales v Italy today. I hope they don't just play at 50% though. Seeing as they're both pretty much guaranteed first and second already, I've a feeling they might do. Avoiding injuries and such.

Re: Euro 2020
I didn't look too hard for the full game, but did find and watch an 11 minute highlights video. He touched the ball twice in those 11 minutes, and provided 2 very able assists. You can't argue too much with that.
Unfortunately, I don't know what happened in the other 79 minutes.
I am not doubting the guy's goal scoring ability, nor his passing ability. My gripe is that he takes to his bed for long periods of each game, when I feel he should be contributing more.
However, I've accepted he's the best we have for now, and I agree with Dannie, lets drop it. I dropped it about a year ago, but several of you keep mentioning Captain Harry and BB in the same sentence. I am not so rude to simply ignore a question.
Lets just agree that It's Coming Home

Re: Euro 2020
Ok my last quote (for now) on the subject. Goal scorers are there to score goals rather than to be focal to every attack the team makes.
If you look at England’s highest goal scorers, Wayne Rooney managed 53 goals over 120 games, a ratio of 1 goal every 2.26 games. The greatest goal scorer ever Jimmy Greaves, managed 44 goals in 57 games, a ratio of 1 goal every 1.29 games. Harry Kane has managed 34 goals in 54 games, a ratio of 1 goal every 1.59 games and the second best of England’s goal scorers.
Of course it would be great if Kane was a bit more involved in some of the games, but as long as he keeps banging them in, then he’s doing his prime function.

Re: Euro 2020
Of course, you are 100% correct. However, when he fails, he attracts all of the criticism from the forum, and most other critics because that is the only thing he brings to the game. Personally, while I don't like it much, I've accepted it, but won't criticise further because he has failed in one very small part of his game. In the other 97% of the game he is performing as well as I have ever seen. Even Captain Harry can't score every time.Dannie Boy wrote: ↑Sun Jun 20, 2021 12:54 pm Ok my last quote (for now) on the subject. If we look elsewhere to the likes of e.g. Sterling, whilst we look for the occasional goal, we expect a few dazzling runs, the occasional assist and maybe pulling the defence out of the mire sometimes. If he, or any member of the team fail to perform, the effect is in many areas of the pitch. The effect is much greater. However, if he fails in just one area, he is still bringing value to the team.
