Euro 2020
Re: Euro 2020
Do it the bloody hard way, Wales! Should have had the game wrapped up in the first half. Cracking match!

What a game! I don't say this lightly, but it almost made me wish I was Welsh! (Almost, pharvey, almost...

Re: Euro 2020
Wales never like to make it easy in any sport it seems - like to keep us fans on our toes....
You'd've been having kittens if you were DM - Ramsey missing chances, Bale missing a penalty and Turkey looking very much like scoring each time they had a corner it seemed (plus several other chances obviously)!!dtaai-maai wrote: ↑Thu Jun 17, 2021 12:59 am What a game! Major competition and Wales involved, so I'll always show an interest , but have to say I truly did enjoy the match - the commentators mentioned there were 34 (?) shots on goal, the highest in the tournament (so far)..... Long let it continue!!

But that's the point - I was having kittens! Dozens of them! I always support the other Home nations, unless they're playing England of course!pharvey wrote: ↑Thu Jun 17, 2021 1:27 amYou'd've been having kittens if you were DMdtaai-maai wrote: ↑Thu Jun 17, 2021 12:59 am What a game! Re: Euro 2020
Well fair play to you DM - as I've said, I'll also support the Home Nations. Unlike rugby however, I can't watch a series of the Round Ball Games - very rare I'll really watch one minute to minute, but this was one of them. Others I do keep an eye on the score or it's in the "background" on TV...dtaai-maai wrote: ↑Thu Jun 17, 2021 1:56 am But that's the point - I was having kittens! Dozens of them! One vital point that kept my undivided attention was a comment made.... A win for Wales would "virtually" guarantee their place in the last 16/Knockout Stages, however a draw would mean they would have to avoid defeat a loss against Italy in Rome..... Somewhat of a big ask, and after the passion of that display would have been cruel to say the least......
If Wales are "virtually" guaranteed a place now in the Final 16, there's nothing to lose in going for it against Italy in Rome - or am I being naive and showing my complete lack of knowledge?

Truly hope Wales and the Home Nations stay there for a little while longer.
If England win, will they stop harping on about '66?

And just to get BB’s blood pressure briefly raised, Harry says he’s fit to play against the Scots on Friday..... ........... only it’s Harry Maguire, not the other one!!
Re: Euro 2020
Wales were great last night. A huge performance and a fully deserved win. Really enjoyable game.
As for England and the other Harry, Mings had a great game against Croatia and I would leave him in the side.

Re: Euro 2020
I agree with both of your comments - the Welsh team played as though their lives depended on getting a result - although I was a bit skeptical about Mings before the last game, he played well enough to keep his place - I do hope though, that Southgate finds room for Grealish, he could score another “Gazza” goal against the Scots!!

Re: Euro 2020
According to reports today, Eriksen is to be fitted with an ICD - an internal cardioverter-defibrillator. This apparently means that he may be able to continue his career after all. Other top athletes have been able to continue playing after having such a device inserted.pharvey wrote: ↑Sun Jun 13, 2021 9:37 pm Update posted by the BBC on the cause of Eriksen's collapse and his current condition. Ultimately his career as a player at 29 must now be over - incredibly sad, but let's be honest it could have ended far worse. Huge hand to the medics, his captain and his teammates!![]()
Daley Blind for instance, former Man United and current Ajax player (and Netherlands international) had the same device inserted in 2020 and has continued playing. In fact, he played in the Netherlands' first game in the Euros just the other night.
If Eriksen is eventually able to resume playing, that would be great news.
Re: Euro 2020
Cracking first half from Denmark! Come on lads! Belgium look all over the shop. Thinking De Bruyne will be making an appearance soon and change the game. Must say, I missed Super Jan at spurs this season but, based on his first half performance, probably a good thing he moved on.
