It is interesting to see that our province was the first to introduce restrictions this time, and our restrictions are probably the most severe. Our numbers seem to be stable/dropping whilst the rest of the country is going out of control. Its about time somebody woke up.

Next weekend is another (domestic tourism) Bank Holiday, and I read a couple of days ago that the subsidised holiday scheme to regenerate domestic tourism is about to be re-started.

FFS we've been living in a state of emergency for a long time now. Now the emergency has truly arrived, isn't it about time we had some top level guidance other than wear your mask, and 7-11s will close at night? 15 months to prepare, 15 months of false alarms, and now its happening, we seem to be like headless chickens.

I don't think the effect of Songkran travel is coming through yet. I was looking at some of the latest timelines for HH cases yesterday (numbers 900+) and they were still connected to having contact with pre-Songkran cases (mostly pubs around 5th, 6th May).

But will there be much of an effect when most of those that might have travelled home for Songkran have already left for good, and those that haven't, didn't travel in any case, or just small numbers travelled.

I have never seen HH as empty as it is now, which suggests more people are staying away, whether that changes with the cases reducing is still be seen.

Re Hua Hin District(HHD)...

Subject to what the figure announced tomorrow is(ie for today) then we are well on course for this weeks numbers to be a little more than just a third of the week before that.

In other words a substantial reduction and a significant downward trend. Promising, especially in the light of the national figures, but equally worrying at the same time.

This weeks reduction is possibly due to the Bangkok crowd(and other parts) going home after Songkran and taking their newly reported cases back to where they came from.

So I agree with the comments on here about the madness of people freely moving around (unnecessarily) and worry about another invasion of Hua Hin next weekend(4 day holiday) when we could be back to square one!

Just crazy. Keep the numbers low Mr Governor, close PKK!

Prachuab. Left to right: new cases, total cases, recovered, total deaths.

The 771 figure is the number in treatment. Underneath this in small text it says mild or no symptoms 730. To the right 16 serious cases and 25 moderate cases.

Think there are 4 holibobs next month, incuding a couple of long weekends.Another kick in the teeth for the hospitality industry who've seen another 'holiday season' destroyed if you include the Songkran cancellations which were around 50% of the 'on-the-book' bookings.
Totally agree about the hypocrisy of the government looking to continue the Rao Tiaow Duay Kan (RTDK) programme - from 29th April I think it is - when they are also telling people to stay at home.

This is very good perspective.

Ironically, might explain why Govt. don't seem overly concerned!

Looking back, before this latest 'wave', our highest one day infection number was 188 at this time last year. That prompted Thailand to go into complete lockdown, almost everything shut, and curfews imposed.

Here we are pushing 3,000 new cases and people can still travel (even encouraged to), restaurants are open etc etc. WTF!
