The 6 million dollar Q for me is... . Is it an antibody test, in that does it tell you if you've already had it?

A good move but 3,500 - 5,000. Still looking at the balance sheet. From what I can gather from various sources around the world, the actual test only costs a few dollars. Of course, you can add, service, PPE etc to that but it's time the government realise that subsidising or giving tests for free is in the country's interests. That's the only way to get factual data on where this virus is going.

I put a post in the Trump thread in response to a post from Sateeb. I'm constantly updating my thinking.

Like I've changed my mind on the virus, a long time ago, I'm having a different outlook on masks. I still go along with the fact that masks cannot protect yourself, but because there are asymptomatic people in our midst, it's no big deal to wear a mask when around others. To protect them, not to protect yourself.
It still needs to be understood that the main protection is hygiene and social distancing. As one of the experts said that one of the problems of mask wearing is that it gives the wearer a false feeling of security.
That's exactly what's happening here. Wear a mask and you're okay!

It has to be a Covid test. The antibody test is a separate test and is still under development.

One of the problems that every country is facing (the UK is a prime example) is the capacity to test people in sufficient numbers. By pricing it out of the pockets of those that are probably at greater risk means that only those who can afford it will get tested and the supply will meet the demand. Hopefully before it’s too late, the testing capacity will increase and the cost will decrease or be free

It is affordable when some hospitals are doing less for 25K i.e. HHH is the only facility in Hua Hin that has set up it's own lab, which must have been costly. But it's expensive enough to keep those who don't need the test away.

I was at HHH a fair bit this week, and I am quite impressed with their efforts. Of course, there will always be room for improvement. but they're trying hard.

Most people on motorbikes seem to be wearing masks, but not helmets. The perceived threat from covid-19 must be greater than that from traffic accidents.

Speaking of which, the authorities will no doubt take the credit for a reduction in road deaths during the pandemic period.

Here's a tip I read about recently, never crossed my mind, when out and about carry a few cotton buds or similar and if you have to use your ATM or have to press any key pads you don't need to physically touch them.

Just heard that the governor of Prachuab has stipulated that if you are found outside without a mask you will be fined 20,000 baht. Announced this morning but I can't find anything official.

Anyone have a source?

I can’t answer your question but if it is true, then the lack of availability is either going to create isolation, or encourage multiple use of potentially contaminated masks

Of course I'll go along with the new rule. Once again a massive underlining of 'Masks will protect you'!
It would be encouraging if these announcements showed that the authorities understood the use of masks, which they obviously don't.

Even the medical experts are promoting the use of masks as a prevention from infecting others from someone who doesn't know they are carrying the virus.
In Thailand, you can be miles away in the countryside, riding a bike, or driving your car, and you can be fined.
Where is the emphasis on hand washing and social distancing? That is far more important.

Singapore, even though the population is only around 6 mill, have heavily populated areas, but they 'cracked the case' by hygene and social distancing. They discouraged the use of masks.

Italy and Spain have managed to flatten the curve without the extensive use of masks.
