I think the answer is no. I've never seen them sell masks in Makro HH. Gloves maybe in the housekeeping section. However the pharmacy on the compound may, but never had when I've gone in. Have you tried your local pharmacies?thecolonel wrote:Sorry to be more clear I meant to buy....sateeb wrote:Can't answer for Macro HH, I go to Macro, Pranburi and I have my own masks and latex gloves. The staff take your temp before entering and hand cleanser. I didn't notice any masks and gloves at the entrance but then again I wasn't looking for them.

Makro Hua Hin stock latex gloves on the last checkout nearest the stores exit. Either side. Or they did a week ago when I bought 3 boxes of 100. One of each size - S, M & L. I only checked because my other half asked me to as she couldn't find them in Bangkok, which is where they were sent, for use by her and her colleagues.

On another note: SCB in market village won't let you in without a mask on. I don't know if other banks are following suit.

I thought that all the banks in MV were closed as per the order.

I was offline yesterday - sorry guy. Regards the Makro Gloves/Masks question:
- Makro were selling small packs of masks to customers (packs of 3 or 10 or was it 3 for 10฿?) last week.
- Makro did have latex gloves (only small when I was looking). If you stand with the tills behind you, the right hand side of the store, 3rd rack in.

Here's a vid that I believe should be compulsory watching for almost everyone. It's very simply explained so kids would understand it. It may just make people here understand that masks are not a protection for the virus. IT'S NOT AIRBORNE, except by unguarded coughing and sneezing. The virus will always sink to a surface where it can survive for a long time.
There is a strong belief here that wearing a mask is the be all and end all to keep yourself safe.
A must watch:

It is what I have been saying from very early days and mentioned by CMO in UK at the very first PM TV session.
Courage is grace under pressure and when circumstances change you change your mind.

Keep this in mind. You could probably buy most of it from Lazada or similar and make one if things get to that point.

I'm still trying to get my wife to understand that sanitiser is for use when you can't get to soap and water which is far better

My initial thoughts on that video, especially through the day was masks and social distancing, non-existent.

And yet hard to believe, no reported cases in Pattaya City. Unbelievable.

Re: Coronavirus Precautions - Hua Hin/Thailand
I keep seeing and hearing a lot about face masks, but I thought it had been established that the virus is not really airborne (unless someone coughs 'at' you), but is infinitely more likely to be picked up from a surface, on which it might linger for some time, hence the regular hand-washing.
So, face masks (for those of us not on the 'front line') are only effective if you are coughing, i.e.in preventing you spreading your own germs to others. Have I misunderstood?
[EDIT: Just seen HHTel's post above saying pretty much the same.]
