dusit resort

Post by manali »

Check in with my wife on the 14 march 2007 for 2 nights at the dusit resort in Hua Hin.The hotel was beautifull but i am still angry about the breakfast on the first morning : When i arrive at the restaurant i asked a girl working there "is the breakfast include in the price of the room?" and she answered "yes the breakfast is include in the price of the room" before bring me to a table. I really enjoy the buffet before receiving the bill of a big thousand baht for it, i got very angry, i explained to 3-4 waitress i only took it because they said it's include in the price of the room, otherwise i never took it and i not agree to pay.then they gave me on the phone a lobby girl who was just abble to tell me the price is not include. On check out explication again to 3-4 girls working on lobby and to the european manager who just offer me i pay the bill.
I paid it but i reallly like to know if it's the politic of the hotel : just a small lie to 50 customer like me every morning at the breafast will become 20 million bath a year. Good business ,isn't it? Maybe not for the future....

Have you made a complaint, in writing, to the hotel management?

Having said that, it may have been an idea to check what was included in the price with management or some form of higher personnel upon check-in. It is possible that the waitress didn't understand you & unfortunately, many Thais will agree with you when they don't understand, rather than lose face by admitting they haven't the foggiest idea what you just said.

Sorry to here of your problem, i agree with Dawn ,but also in England if you book a hotel it clearly states weather room only, or with meals ( food) this said meals are payed for in advance or if not booked beforehand are payed onyour room .ie pay as you eat . In Thailand the food is so cheep and good out side the hotel it always pays to book room only.

PS just read your post again , these hotels don't have to resort to under handed things they make that much money , they charge european prices and pay local wages they can pay the months wage bill in two days or less. THINK about this next time you tip, or if you don't, start . Thank you.

Manali, hotels of the standard of the Dusit hand out breakfast vouchers when you check in, and are taken every morning when you enter the breakfast rooom.
No ticket, no breakfast.
I suggest that whenever you check in you ask for the vouchers and then that will save a lot of problems for you.
